  1. that being said in a small challenge of only a few months truth be told it probably wouldn't make a difference one or the other so in essence you are correct. Just thought about the bell curve of working out with either method.
  2. i can see where you are going with this and given time to prepare as well as warm weather and perhaps an abandoned tractor tire repair center i could put together a routine that would be similar in what it could do for me. The problem with body weight work out is the idea of progress, while you could do all the exercises it would be harder to change and adapt to a heavier weight. you would need various tires and various brooms. At a certain point BW maxes out to your natural bodyweight and as i am already attempting Hindu pushups and handstand pushups i am at a loss. But that is my personal opinion from the months i have been on the bodyweight culture message board it seems a rather wonderful technique to increase strength endurance and flexibility but a more slow method of building muscular size.
  3. Be creative, its not too hard to workout with weights! This is true and i would prefere an all bodyweight workout to weight because i am more comfortable with it, it does however leave me at a disadvantage in a competition because i cannot add as much muscle as quickly as those using weights.
  4. i am kinda happy that nothing has been done yet, unfortunately i have been delayed in acquiring a gym membership due to intense financial hardships.
  5. lol this was quite the rage amongst my friends for some time. lol. rawberry!
  6. that what i assumed they were but when you assume you make and ass out of u m e. Thanks for the pointers again. I have been watching that orgional post of the gentleman doing the boting and i like his style i think im going to practices variant speed moves i walk to work so im sure the cars passing me buy today were laughing at me suddenly stopping roboting to a mid height and pulling myself back up. lol.
  7. Hey troy i was thinking about what i wrote and i mistook dimestops for twist-o-flex. Can you explain dimestop to me please? Also about being overweight it has been a few years since i was anything other than average or below average. at my heaviest i was 275lbs unfortunately i do not have pictures of this time i do however have pictures up until i was around 240lbs most people do not think i was that overweight because i am 6 feet tall and 'carry it well' I will scan my pictures in this weekend. I plan on doing a before and after thread anyways. I had made one before but the site hiccuped and ate my post. I am starting my first true attempt to gain a bit of mass so it would be a good idea to track my progress.
  8. I too am happy that this sort of testing is coming about. The one thing it wont replace are neural studies on animals and other vivisection testing. When you are looking at a systemic influence instead of a reactionary influence we have along way to go.
  9. Roberts post reminded me of the NY times article i read: If It’s Fresh and Local, Is It Always Greener?
  10. I appreciate the pointers troy, because of the embarrassment factor ill privately message you the next one i do. I stuck to moves that could be seen in the confines of my webcam and unfortunately the watching was to ensure i didnt leave my 1 foot of work space. My friend has a camera so i am going to ask him to record me so that i only have to worry about dancing. That being said segmentation is something that i truely need to work on, you are correct when you say i enjoy the whole body movement, I have been working on dimestops for sometime that i have managed to do a transition into gliding. tut left dimestop cross over glide it works well as an illusion. Again though my footwork is lacking. I use to be severely overweight and i never liked to move my feet off the ground because it made me jiggle. i have been thin for a long time so its time to overcome that short sightedness. Thanks again for the advice.
  11. Hmm this has been an interesting discussion besides the people calling each other asshats or some other such nonsense. A couple of things i would like to express is that the argument that we live in an unnatural world as a reason to change an animals perceived eating habit seems to have logical inconsistencies. It is one thing to agree on the fact that domestication of animals has resulted in a different lifestyle for animals that may have sustained in the wild but it is quite another to say that gives us the right based on that argument alone to change an animals diet. Now dont take my statement the wrong way because i am not advocating a meat centric or vegan diet i am merely talking about attributing a corrective measure for something. I tend to agree that if we make decision based on what is best for our companions than we can also make decisions for what they eat. I have a question though what about so called natural foods companies like newmans own organics who offer pet food, It is not from a factory farmed source and it stays away from miscellaneous meal. If we disqualify them we would be better to boycott there complete product lines. I guess my question is can anyone think of a natural pet food company that isnt a product or offshoot of factory farming? I also agree that to be an AR person, as i am, that i should not put in chains an animal because i thought i want companionship but rather should open my home for soon to be euthanized or rescue animals. This is what i have done thus far. For me i guess it comes down to choice, the only thing left for me to choose is to buy a bag of the food and allow my cat to chose what it would desire as pet food and go from there.
  12. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v471/phillipeb/?action=view&current=Video11.flv http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v471/phillipeb/?action=view&current=Video9.flv Uh so in direct opposition to my better judgment i am posting this video, i am more than embarrassed about it as it has opened my eyes to true level of skill. On the plus side i am signing of for break dancing classes as a direct result of these videos.
  13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-intensity_interval_training Most people recommend HIIT training, I am unsure how much time will maximize the benefits of this training as it differs based on body type. Also check out the cutting threats about the diet they follow and why to help you in your goals. Good luck.
  14. i have a book that talks about eating in the wild, i have looked at it but have been apprehensive on using it incase my casual observation lead to a not so casual side effect.
  15. It has been my experience that for children i have had the best luck making things for myself. My niece is someone i love to death and she would always want to share food with me. sadly i couldnt and didnt want to explain to a 5 year old why so the standard excuse was uncle cant eat that sorry sweetie. So she would jump at the chance to share food with me, perhaps it was situational but she loved bocca burgers any fruits or veggies, but if your looking for traditional comfort food id still recommend cooking it yourself http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/ check through the site for a few recipies, most of that processed crap is just that crap, although tasty i wouldnt want to feed it to my niece.
  16. for a while when i was trying to loose weight i went on an oatmeal diet which gets boring quickly so i have tried almost every condiment known to man but my favorite was homemade seitan and ketchup mixed with the oatmeal. I have also added ketchup to most things truthfully with a splash of soy sauce. When the farmers market is around during the summer i got fresh peaches and mixed them with sugar i carmalized and mixed with soy milk or even sweetened coconut milk would have worked for this. after it was done i used it as a glaze for potatoes carrots and brocolli. it was actually quite good and a weird stroke of genius on my part.
  17. I would have to say that i am an unenthusiastic cook and with the preface these books suit me just fine with there basic ease and approachable ingredients vegan planet: this for me is the only book i will probably ever need it is simple and has over 400 recipies, sometimes they are a little heavy on the fats but once you have made them once you can modify them according to your own tastes vegan with a vengence: its like that friend who does so much with so little, tasty and on the cheap good stuff. then i just use recipezar if i want anything specific. The only thing i think im missing to complete my basic cooking skills is a 4 item baking bread cookbook.
  18. just a quick perhaps question/observation. you may have had different results because you quite clearly are not 88 years old.
  19. wow what a great question, that i unfortunately have no real answer for. It seems that once i changed to veganism as a logistical moral choice i ate a crap diet, i bought the book vegan planet I started to cook for myself more but still i don't think it changed or was that influential in regards to thinking about my diet. Weirdly enough it was this website that got me thinking about appropriate food portions and vitamin deficiencies and what not, that and a a few articels about CSAs when i started to read about the slow food movement it hit home and i started slowing down and paying attention to what i ate. So thanks you all for being my source to change my diet to a better one, from vegan to healthatarian.
  20. I feel like im a combination of those types but perhaps that is because i have never seriously worked out. Perhaps im the mayburry type they suggested yoga too. lol
  21. this is an interesting topic with no right answer only what is right for you. I personally feel i should not take the option from my cats. They eat a meat centric diet and i feel i should not change that, although they like my vegan food more than there own which is weird, but to each their own. My friend recently said "well what about the industry that produces the food"? His argument was because i am buying animal grade food i am allowing the industry of cruelty to exist. I have to agree with this statement, but i feel i have little choice other than buying them organic cat food from companies with good practices. He made the argument that if i was alright with that then why wouldn't i make the food myself from meat from local farms so i can ensure the quality and humane treatment of the meat. This threw me for a loop actually because in essence i am okay with buying my pets food as long as i will never have to see the animal slaughtered. Which seems inherently wrong to me. I am at a moral crossroads and i have been thinking about this as of late. thanks for the post. The one thing i will contest is that moist food is best for your pets. A 75 percent mixture is a good start with the emphasis on hard dry food because the soft food can weaken the cats teeth while the harder food acts as a natural scrubbing agent, at least this is true for cats.
  22. i would like a more firm chest. I have some issues there form being mobidly obese for half my life.
  23. Im glad troy made this thread. I cannot bring myself to kill things, on occasion i have a kneejerk reaction to insects that results in death but for the most part i have trained myself to no react to outside stimulus. I moved into a place and found out too late that it has a thriving ant population in the vents, i just sweep them up gently and place them in the trash but its getting ridiculous so i am seeking a way as to block them from coming through the vents. I was thinking about picking up neem oil and coating the outside of the vents for a few weeks because its a non toxic barrier the ants would not cross, hopefully, but the bastards seem rather persistent. I have taken to leaving corn chips on my floor in various areas so the ants in the carpet will swarm there so that i can vacuum once in a while. I have yet to vacuum in 3 months of moving in for fear of this.
