Do any runners here ever get painful rashes on their inner thighs where the two thighs rub? I didnt have any for many years, now that I am running longer distances(3-10miles x 4-5 days a week) they have re-appeared. Recently, they have gotten to the point where I HAVE to completely stop. If I take a few days off they dissapear and its all good until the cycle starts all over again, I wonder if I am running too much? Bad posture? Fat thighs? Poorly crafted boxers ? etc... Does anybody have a remedy for these rashes? Any suggestions will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! For those of you who dont know what I am talking about...its something like this...

It is with great sadness, confusion, and anger, that we add this to the list of topics to our news section. As I fight back tears, I painfully remember with great fondness a fallen friend. On Saturday, May 5th, Jeremy William Robert Williams (Bill Bob Bills) was found dead. Leaving behind; His parents, his wife Lauren, daughter Brooklyn, and what no other informative media has mentioned, their second unborn little girl. Also, hundreds of friends, all of which, he treated and cared for as family. Many who know Jeremy, can tell you with 100% conviction and certainty, he was there for you. Always trying to make light of any situation, and always willing…

http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/articlefiles/5282-RyanGracie.jpg RYAN GRACIE DEAD AT 33 A Pride FC fighter, Ryan Gracie was a grandson of Carlos Gracie, one the creators of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. More than 40 sons and grandsons of Carlos Gracie and his brother Helio have practiced the sport, helping popularize it around the world. details are still very sketchy, but it's a very strange story. whatever happened, it is a tragic for this to happen to someone so young and talented. the Gracie family must be devastated.

Have you ever heard/seen this guy? Big big man. I think he is 6'2" 250#. Mostly muscle, you can almost always see abs so he doesnt have much body fat. Anyways. Youtube him. I dont know if you want to watch the videos, but he was a underground street fighter in Florida that was absolutely brutal. No gloves, elbows allowed, grabbing allowed but no judo/jiu jistu take downs. He fought for money during these, but this guy is a force. ESPN did an interview with him. He stopped street fighting and is fighting in the MMA. His first fight was against Ron Mercer and he ended it by guillotine in 1:30. His second fight I cant remember who he fought with but ended it in 17 sec…

If any triathletes or swimmers here know, what is a good triathlon wetsuit that will keep a person reasonably warm (or at least keep them from going hypothermic) when the water is very, very cold (below 60 degrees)? I'd like to participate in a triathlon this year, and also swim recreationally in cold water. I'm sure I would need neoprene gloves and booties at those temps, too (at least for recreational swimming; I know they probably wouldn't hold a race if the water was so cold you'd need booties), so if anyone has any recommendations for those it would be helpful.

This Wall Street Journla article has a video with it http://tinyurl.com/3x639o The PRC is trying to make Wu Shu ( war art ) into its contribution to the Olympic Games by staging a Wu Shu competition at the same time as the upcoming games in Bejing. The monks of the 1,500 year old Shaolin temple in the PRC, know as some of the best fighters in the country have refused to participate saying they practice Kung Fu ( pronounced "Gung Fu" meaning "achieved effort" ) as a compliment to meditation as a mean of reaching the goal of enlightenment.

Not that I'm cheering against them or hoping that they will lose, but c'mon! They have pulled out miracle wins week after week lately. Are they just that good? Will they go unbeaten and be the greatest team ever? Maybe so. The whole state of Massachusetts has a lot to be happy about in the sports world, especially having the best Baseball, Basketball and Football teams in the entire country.

A track racing buddy of mine(and Tasha's) posted this on facebook. It really shows how nonsensical and overdone the fixed gear movement is.

It's to cold to do HIIT outside some days so I was wondering, what cardio equipment do you use when you do it? I tried it on a treadmill once but I don't like treadmills that much. Please give me ideas.

People who lose a great deal of weight often become "skinny fat". They are slimmer, but their weight has a high body fat percentage, they may have loose skin, they are flabby and they are soft. You see a lot or articles advising people how to bulk up or slim down, but next to none on how to firm up from being skinny fat. I thought it would be a good topic of discussion. After losing a large amount of weight I think most people would not want to bulk up ( especially at the risk of gaining fat with the muscle )or shrink that much more. What is a skinny fat person's best course? 1. Stabilize their caloric intake, do loads of cardio, burn the rest of the fat off…

This weekend I attended the first of several Teaching Assistant Workshops at my studio (Shakti Vinyasa in Bellevue, WA). I'll be attending four of these 6-hour workshops, during which you learn precise details to every pose in the Baptiste Power Vinyasa sequence...with special attention to how to assist in class. This means being able to realign, support and/or deepen students into a pose during class. It was a ton of fun, and helped me advance a ton in my personal practice as well. If you are into yoga and have the chance to attend such a workshop in your area, it is well worth it. Anyway, after practicing (sporadically) for 6 years myself, I figured that it was ti…

The past few weeks, since the weather has cooled down, almost every time I have went for a run, I end up with blue fingernails. I am fine (not cold) while I'm running, and I'm fine immediately afterwards, but about 10 minutes passes and I start shivering and shaking and my fingernails turn blue. I'm told this is hypothermia setting in. At first I figured it was because I wasn't changing out of my running gear fast enough, but last night I changed into something warm and dry right away and it still set in, just a little later. I usually shower right after, but last night I had to eat dinner first. Is this what I should expect all winter? Is there anything I should b…
