Is there any such thing? I'm trying to eliminate soy from my diet because I think it is the reason I always have a runny nose. Almonds can be used to make a milk substitute so is there a way to curd that and make Almond Tofu?

Is there anyone here who believes its possible to get more muscular without actually lifting dumb weights? I only ask, because when working out lifting, sometimes nothing happens, and I believe that this is because we are facing some internal stumbling block, or external. And no matter how much you rep and burn, nothing really is happening because the focus is elsewhere. The Real focus. Or is it something to do with the body readjusting somehow? How? Why?

My daughter has just turned 1. We have been giving her formula and now my wife has agreed to get her off of milk altogether but I do need to find some good, healthy alternatives that have good fats in them. This is a pretty big step and I'm excited that I have the chance to help raise our child without dairy but I also don't know a lot of the facts. How good or bad is soy?(I've been using it daily since I gave up meat and dairy) Is rice milk a better option? I make smoothies with soy milk and tons of fruits and I've been giving my daughter a bit of that every day. Any opinions and any links to scientific studies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As some of you know I have become intolerant to soya recently, & have been looking around for a protein powder to replace it. I ordered some pea protein which tastes great & has helped me get back on track with the bodybuilding. I would recomend it for anyone having soy based problems. (I also tried hemp but found it really really bad)

Are there any good vegan alternatives to ibuprofen? I tweak my shoulder during PT sometimes. Normally it goes away after a day of ice and ibuprofen. Sometimes, like this time, my pain lasts a bit longer (so far a week). But because I have been taking ibuprofen on and off since my injury I feel that it's not working any longer. Not just that, lately I've been feeling not to hot while taking the pills, then when I stop I feel much better. The pain doesn't seem to go away like it used too, I get all headachey, and my vision gets a bit blurry. All signs that ibuprofen isn't that good for me anymore or that I took so much I've kinda overdozed maybe? This is just for my sho…

I'm currently looking at buying a Tortilla Maker/Cooker and I found one that is Aluminum. I know that there are some risks involved with certain cookware( Which is one of the reasons I hate cooking with my Teflon but I have to bite the bullet until I can afford a new pot ). So is Aluminum safe? Or do I need to continue my search?

I'm trying to be 100% raw, but I'm always feeling hungry, I'm vegan for now 4-5 month, and tried to bulk up, but I realized thats not working for me, now I'm always hungry, especially at lunch, what is a good raw lunch that gets me satisfied for a looong time? because it's bad that I can't go out almost because I always get hungry, and crave certain foods, and home I end up eating lot of things that I found and then I feel like shit, I think from a nutritional point I get everything I need, my stomach got too used to lot of food and now wants more? or just my body craves certain cooked foods?

I saw my physician last week to address the following complaints: - always weak and/or fatigued - always cold - especially my hands, and feet - weight loss with increased hunger He didn't seem too concerned. He pressed me about my overall diet, health, and ordered blood tests. A nurse contacted me a few days ago with the results. Everything came back normal. My diet consists mainly of the following: Daily: Oatmeal or Kashi cereal Almond Milk Peanut butter Sprouted Bread Fresh Fruit Various Frozen veggies 2 protein shakes (2 scoops of nutribiotic, water, and a handful of frozen fruit) Other things in the mix ( but not always daily ): Quinoa Beans (lentils, …

I have recently been trying to follow a raw vegan diet. This isn't a big step for me, I have been vegan for many years and have consumed a large percentage as raw. But recently I have been trying to do 100% raw. I usually feel quite well, with one exception . . . I AM HUNGRY!!! I have found that I will be ravenous (and it seems to be true hunger, not just cravings or appetite) on just fruit, until I have a little protein. For example, one day I had had nothing but fruit all day and I was starting to feel like I could faint and I had no energy, even though I had already consumed fruit. Then I had a small glass of soymilk and I was fine. Does anyone have any comments…

Haha, not necessarily a bad thing, but gets expensive after awhile! Anyone have any suggestions on what I could maybe add to my diet, or other changes I could make so I'm not hungry all the time? I realize maybe being hungry goes hand in hand with being vegan...but maybe that's just me. Some background: I'm 27, female, about 5 foot 4, around 120-125 lbs, been vegan for 9 years, and train in martial arts (karate and kickboxing) 5-7 times a week. A typical day for me regarding food would be: Breakfast -- a bowl of Nature's Path Organic "Heritage O's" with almond milk, a banana Lunch -- a bowl of lentil soup, bun; bowl of assorted fruit; side chick pea dish Dinner …

Hey all, long time no post. I've always struggled with gaining weight, and if I do gain weight it primarily comes on as fat, and only VERY slowly as muscle. I'm really struggling to find a balance where gain weight without putting on lots and lots of belly fat. My diet currently is around 2800 calories at an approximate 50/25/25 split. Not totally clean eating, but certainly on the good side of healthy. Very rarely have any processed foods and usually home cooked food. I do enjoy a nice hoppy ale at the weekend, which I'm sure doesn't help with the body fat. My workout routine is 4 days a week Wendler 531 using the triumvirate accessory model. I've been doing this f…

I just realized that I may possibly be sorta allergic to soy...but only when I consume it in larger quantities...like, if I have mock meats here and there and little bit of soy milk throughout the day, I'll be fine...but when I have a lot of soy throughout the day (i.e. soy meat for breakfast, lunch and dinner) or whenever I have soy protein powder (20 grams), I start feeling weird...I totally have a hard time breathing...and my throat becomes all swollen...do you guys think I may be allergic to soy?? I really hope I'm not allergic...cause almost everything I eat has some soy in it.

Hello guys; I have been looking for growing some muscles; but I am not still sure if I am eating in the right way. I eat a lot of brown rice and beans and chickpeas, lentils, TVP and peas are quite affordable; I also add some carrots, onions, sweet potatos and vegetables to my meals. Besides breakfast and 3 main meals during the day, whenever I feel hungry I eat bananas, melons, peanuts, soy milk with oats and whole wheat bread. I work out five times a week for the last 6 months, and recently I started to take soy protein powder (27gm of protein a day), creatine and bcaa. I gained some weight (about 1.5kg) so I think everything is going well =] So guys, what do you th…

I have worked out for years. I have eaten vegan for about two years. While I have gained strength, I feel like I should look so much better than I do. I do crossfit 3 days a week. I also hit the gym 2 or 3 days a week to hit any areas that I don't feel like crossfit targeted. For example crossfit does t really do much with your chest so I will make sure to get some bench and incline bench. I also run 3 times a week. 2 runs are normally shorter runs of 2-3 miles. They never exceed 25 mts. So I shouldn't be burning away muscle. Once every couple of weeks I will do an endurance run. Yesterday I ran 7 miles. Here is what I have eaten so far today. I think this represents wha…

Hi, I have just come down with a cold - my third this year as well as having the flu earlier in the year. It seems ridiculously frequent and I'm sure I never used to get them this often. I recovered well from the flu but the colds seem to linger more now too. Not good for my upcoming birthday! I just feel it's a bit weird. I've been vegan for nearly 8 years but didn't pay much attention to nutrition before but recently I've been eating healthier than ever so I don't understand why I keep getting colds while others around me don't. Is there something I could be missing? Does anyone know what foods can help the body fight off viruses, if any, or is it something not…

HI. I really want to make sure i'm eating the right foods and combining them properly. I'm used to the standard chicken, vegetables and whey diet. If there a professional that provides programs and vegan diets at an affordable rate, I would be interested in that. I really would like to get ripped, without adding mass or changing my size. I'm female, 5'6", 134 lbs with 17% body fat size 4-6. My body has good definition and tone, but I'm not ripped. I do 6 days a week of 1.5 hours (either swim, bike run, step class or zumba) 1 day a week of power yoga 1 day a week of full body muscle endurance training (body pump class) 3 days pyramid style weight training (m-…

I'd really appreciate some input. I'm not sure if I'm eating too little or too much. I know that might sound ridiculous, but I really don't know. Here is what I ate today so far (I've been on a hot cocoa kick ever since I kicked the coffee habit haha). I've eaten a little less today than I have been eating: Breakfast: 1.) smoothie: 1 cup almond milk, 1 banana, strawberries, spinach, 1 scoop Plant Fusion protein powder 2.) cup of hot cocoa: 1 cup almond milk, 1 heaping tablespoon organic cocoa powder, stevia to sweeten Lunch: 1.) big bowl of lentil soup Snack: 1.) cup of hot cocoa: 1 cup almond milk, 1 heaping tablespoon organic cocoa powder, stevia to swee…

Is it just me or do we not need to eat as much to gain muscle? Say I wanted to gain 10 pounds of muscle in 6 months. Lets assume I did sufficient high intensity exercise to stimulate muscle growth. 1 pound of muscle = 600 calories 10 x 600 = 6000 calories 6000 divided by 183 = 32.8 calories So on top of the daily requirement calorie intake (worked out mine here) which for me is 2730.2, I would only need to consume an additional 32.8 calories a day to provide for the 10lbs of muscle growth. Since muscle is water and protein and water yields zero calories, a pound of muscle contains around 150 grams of protein (one gram of protein yields 4 calories. 600 / 4 …

Hello all. I've completed my 3rd week of a cut on a 15-20% calorie deficit, so far so good on the progress both weight lifting wise and nutrition/macros weight loss wise. My current stats are 5'8, 161 lbs (lost 4 pounds in 3 weeks), 32 year old male. 18-20% BF approximately. Haven't measured in 3 weeks though. I workout about 6 days a week, and do a lot of resistance training centered on heavy weights and low reps. Typical daily intake: Pre-workout -Fruit & Kale smoothie with Raw Meal powder (tastes great btw) Post workout -Plant Fusion protein drink -Breakfast Burrito (Amy's brand) Lunch -Frozen veggie burger, black beans, green leafy vegetable (spi…
