  1. How much protein are you shooting for? The powder will definitely help. Nuts and seeds are good for protein and fats too. You really just have to experiment with things to find what you like!
  2. Oh the shame! I was happy with my 155 lbs squat, 4 sets, 8 reps. Also 95 lbs overhead press at 4x8 and 155 lbs bench at 4x8.
  3. Wow that's quite an introduction! Welcome to the board
  4. I think it's a great program IF 1. You don't try to start out too heavy 2. You maintain vigilance about listening to your body and knowing when to NOT add weight. That said, my squat went from nothing (less than 135lbs) to 215lbs in just three months. I started working too hard on my knee at that point, so I took a break from it and never went back, but I still highly recommend it for building strength quickly.
  5. This is a good idea. Have you found good ratios to use for this? I found this recipe (http://www.dollarfriendlymeals.com/post/20969448641/peanut-butter-protein-bars) but the comments don't seem too hopeful....
  6. Probably due to PDCAAS being below 100. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_Digestibility_Corrected_Amino_Acid_Score
  7. Black beans are a complete protein, and are super tasty too!
  8. I think for bodybuilding there is a definite disadvantage, but the disadvantage is mostly in food options. You have very few things you can choose to eat because you have to constantly eat high protein foods. For endurance athletics, I think the difference is minimal, if any.
  9. I also like my Vitamix, but honestly I think both are excellent machines. I think it just comes down to if you prefer to 'tamp' or prefer to not tamp. Tamping allows thicker ingredients, but is more work.
  10. I think with the amount of exercise you are doing, 1500 calories would be a much better daily total. Also, you are definitely getting enough protein at this point, so I would simply add a few hundred calories to your diet, mostly in the form of fat. Why are you so afraid of consuming fat in your diet?
  11. Fair enough! I will head down and buy the dang membership.
  12. Hey everybody! I'm feeling a bit frustrated right now. My goals are to lose weight and build muscle. Weight loss is just diet, but I feel like I need a gym to build serious muscle. Bodyweight exercises don't seem to do much for me, but I am also horrified at the idea of giving a gym $25 of my money every month. I rent my place, so a home gym isn't an option either. Am I stuck, do I just have to spend the money? What are the cheapest gyms around?
  13. Do they have to be movies? Arrested Development is one of the best shows out there IMO....
  14. And GMO labeling would help how? 99% of consumers will still buy the cheapest product, no matter who makes it or if it's GMO. You can't fix an ignorant society with legislation. :/
  15. Vaccinations definitely do more good than harm. They really are essential to ensure that society stays healthy and free of epidemics. Getting your kids vaccinated is a potentially non-vegan thing that I think we have to do in modern society...
  16. But it's backed by David Wolfe! Looks a lot like the Magic Bullet and the 'new' Nutribullet.....
  17. All the sudden I know what they mean over at Vegan Fitness when they say "take it to VBB." Fluoride is not some terrible thing that we need to run from!
  18. Unfortunately it also has added sugar, which I detest in milks....
  19. Yes and no. It sounds like you are pretty good about monitoring your food intake, but HOW good are you? Do you weigh your fruits when you count your calories, or do you just guess? If you eat too low of an amount for a long time, you can kill your metabolism.
