  1. I wish I did. I just made that up out of nowhere, because I couldn't find one online. A search for 'raw dressing' doesn't work, because technically olive oil is raw, so most of those recipes use OO...
  2. Agreed. Let's ignore the debate for now, shall we? My mom's puppy has been doing fine on home made food. She buys the nutrients and yeast from vegecat.com and makes the food at home herself. I don't see any problem with it...
  3. Well anyway, I tried a salad dressing sans oil just to see how it would come out. 1tbsp of tahini and 3tbsp of blueberry vinegar, plus a little pepper and garlic powder. It tasted great! So I am thinking of using tahini instead of olive oil for my salads from now on...
  4. I was just reading Eat to Live, and in it, the author discusses how all oils are bad for a healthy diet (even olive and flax) because they add calories without adding fiber or micronutrients. What do you guys think about this? Is olive oil really that bad?
  5. Personally I get about 30-45 grams of protein per day from pea isolate. I can't imagine meeting my protein reqs without a powder...
  6. Just try to buy organic. Strawberries pick up pesticides like none other...
  7. You are telling me you built that body with 1000 Cal a day?!
  8. I try to keep to 2200cals a day for my cut, but there has never been a time when I made hummus and ate less than 1/2 cup at once.
  9. First off, a BIG congrats. You look great man, keep it up! Second, if I can ask a few questions. How strict is your diet? How many calories do you take in every day? What is the fat/carb/protein ratio you shoot for? Favorite foods? Sorry for the questions, I just wanna know how you got so big!
  10. Oh my diet! Why do you do these things to me???
  11. Yeah me neither. I don't add sugar to anything I eat, but if I want a Clif Bar, well then it has enough fiber, fat, and protein to slow down the sugar digestion and help with insulin spike. Lets not get carried away here and say that a Clif Bar is equivalent to a soda or anything...
  12. Well I don't have a nutrition degree, but this diet looks absolutely horrid. I can see the merits of a vegan diet, and even a raw food diet, but just greens and fruits? I am seeing calcium deficiency, B12, even vit D in northern climates. Plus such a low fat diet (<2% fat???) will hurt the body over time. The protein intake should be fine, but not great for building muscle. Overall, maybe a 3/10 rating from me. What's wrong with people?
  13. Dates from Iran? Doesn't the shipping kill you?
  14. Wow you kids are ritzy. When could care less about taste, oat bran and/or grape nuts. When I care about taste, Life and/or Raisin Bran. Organic/Whole Foods brands are too pricey per lb for me...
  15. It sounds boring, but Chipotle! YUM!
  16. Just throwing my input in...I use Vanilla flavored with Stevia. It works great with soymilk, and it's versatile for lots of recipes (pudding, bars, etc.) The majority of people say that the high end flavors are the best though...
  17. Actually you might be surprised. When I was on my raw kick (mostly raw foods, LOTS of fruits and veggies) I would say my protein intake was right around 15%, if not less. And that was when I was still eating a lot of nuts and soymilk for protein...
  18. Just to chip in. A few months ago my B12 levels were around 300 (normal is 200-1100) and my doc said I should try to raise that a bit. I started taking a separate B12 dot with my multi. It was concerning, but I was getting 15,000% my DV from supplements, not to mention another 200-300% my DV from fortified foods. Going back a few weeks ago, my B12 levels had gone from 300 to 400, so my doc was a little happier. Now I don't know much about the dangers of excess, but getting 17,000% a day for me only raised my levels 100 points over a 6 month period. Frankly I would rather take 17K% a day and have a normal level, than take 5K% a day and be on the low end...
  19. I don't know if these have been mentioned but.... Ishmael - Daniel Quinn Animal Liberation - Peter Singer The Omnivore's Dilemma - Michael Pollan The Red Queen - Matt Ridley
  20. I know quite a few people who swear by Vega, and a few that use The Ultimate Meal. They aren't cheap, but compared to $230 they can't be worse!
