  1. Welcome! Great to have another science buff in here!
  2. Great intro and welcome! There are many people here that are primarily in it for health and/or environmental reasons (me being one of them) but watching "Earthlings" will make you feel even better about your diet choice.
  3. I also try to buy sustainably (mostly regional and organic) and it is double to 5x the price of food in for example McDonalds. However, as I tell people, the price I'm paying is the real price of food. The price they pay is for food that is nutritionally bankrupt and unsustainable. Since I pay more money for food I also pay more VAT so that I, in the end, pay more for "health" care, subsidies, medical research and I will keep paying for solutions that will keep our unsustainable lifestyle ticking. I think the next thing will be "clean" or unclean coal. As long as it comes down to us keeping up what we're doing we will cut down the last tree and we will find a rational argument to do so. And I will pay more for it because of the way I live than others. It feels frustrating.
  4. Why did you tell him your goals? If he asked me I would have told him that I have no goals and that this is a kind of meditation for me. In my experience that's the best way of avoiding things like this. If you don't need to buy there's nothing for him to sell, so to speak.
  5. Better whip out the peanut butter and then go bonkers at the gym!
  6. Clif bars? Builder bars? Donuts? I'll eat it all and then I will eat you!
  7. I always start my day with a green smootie and I thought it might be nice to spice it up a bit.
  8. Just found this on reidarsson.se: http://www.reidarsson.se/proteinshakes.html I've never ordered from them but I think I might do it now. They also have hemp butter, hemp seeds and other things.
  9. "Dude you just shut off the Exchange server!" "How can I get to the internet without AOL?" Awesome find!
  10. Great story. But where do you come along and rescue the enzyme princess from the fire breathing dragon? I'm too far away to rescue you but you can buy a catapult in any health store worth its name. Hitting the dragons with the catapult can be hard though, them being invisible and all. For this task you can hire a catapult ronologican for the small price of $1750/hour. Trust me, it's worth it and if you don't believe me I will put up a website about it and thus it will be true.
  11. It's the goblins that make the proteins "enzymatically active". When you heat food the dragons come and they kill the goblins so that they can no longer protect the enzymes. Then you'll die because without enzymes you can't protect yourself from the cheians. There is also a guy named Burt that is of utmost significance.
  12. Please don't pay people to shove hoses up your ass. It won't rid you of your acne. Diet plays a role in this and it is different for everyone. You just have to test for yourself and see. For some it's chocolate for some it's oils or nuts and for others it might be something else. I had severe acne as a teen too so I understand your frustration. I got some kind of pill for it that worked it out for me. Can't remember the name of it. I would like to see the long biochemical breakdown (with references) of this.
  13. I had potatoes and lentils for lunch today (cooked of coarse), so no hanky-panky for flanders!

  15. Oh, I thought you took the MMA! There are B12 analogues in (among other things) spirulina (which I know you eat a lot of) that can raise the B12 values (as I understand some tests don't make any difference between the different types of B12). I think it would be a good idea to test the MMA since it can be the analogues swimming about in your blood that is raising the value.
  16. They're hard to find in good shape so I usually steer clear. I buy them sometimes though. I don't think they're exceptionally healthy though. Apples are just as good I think.
  17. Congrats on the job! Good luck with the sleep!
  18. No worries about the HDL as long as the LDL is low. LDL should optimally be below 80 as I understand. For homocysteine, you need B12, Folate and B6 to get it down. Some people still don't respond well and I Dr Fuhrman uses some kind of folate supplement for them. I can't find the article/newsletter where I read it though. Sorry.
  19. i'm curious what the 2% cooked was Frozen spinach. It'll kill me coz it's cooked and I'm all out of enzymes! I'm going out awesome and sexy though. You can take that to the bank!
  20. I've eaten 98% raw today and if I were gay I wouldn't be able to stop touching myself. You just don't know what time it is cause of all the toxins in your body!
  21. Don't try that at home, you will dislocate all yo' shit!! Respect!!
