  1. I think that organic milk is never coming from animals treated "humanely", having the throat sliced in a slaughterhouse isn't "humane" as we speak of sentient being. Organic milk is a business where animals are given organic food and where the rules over their exploitation are somewhat different. Francione has very clear articles about it (it's worth looking further into his blog) compassionate animal use is nonsense About soy, "bad light are funding in some way by the dairy industry" is true, but it's not only the dairy industry... look up the Weston a price foundation, you'll have a good laugh: http://www.westonaprice.org/
  2. It seems that you are going through a hard time, I guess being vegan is also dealing with difficulties and trying to find out how to overcome them, without harming animals when we can... so keep going and let us know!! - You didn't mention any of the protein powders (rice, pea, hemp, sun warrior, vega,...)? - What about rice/almond/hemp/quinoa/oat-milks when you are craving? - Isn't it possible to do more cardio to cut? - What about all the other variety of beans, chickpeas, lentils... to bring some diversity to your diet? - Isn't millet, quinoa, buckwheat, spelt, amaranth helpful when bored with brown rice? - Do you find ways to spice up your food and enjoy it? - Where are you in bodybuilding, what are your goals? My priority is not to harm anyone. So if it's hard on me, or my bodybuilding performances, I'll try to get over it and find a way to make it work, despite the limitations, when I can. And I wouldn't count on milk, it's not mine to have anyway! In the very last resort, many chickens need to be rescued. Eating the white of their eggs will not harm them as long as you provide to their needs for as long as they live, but it's such a big engagement and I my point is also to show that we don't need it in general... Hope you'll find your way!!
  3. I love him! He is very inspiring and has lots of great infos...
  4. Scooby says you should cardio, I like Scooby, don't know if he's right though... but here is an article: http://scoobysworkshop.com/does-cardio-burn-muscle/
  5. Hey klaatu21, all your answers can be found here : http://scoobysworkshop.com/ (in video) good luck
  6. Wow, really cool video. I wish I could do a single pull-up... Bravo & keep it on!
  7. Anyone has some literature/links about sentience of fish? I would be interested to know more about those fishy animals.
  8. Hey good people, you should really check this website out. I find it quite interesting and motivating to keep a trace of my workouts somewhere and to get people being attentive at what I do...
  9. You look beautiful, congratulation on your body! When are you entering the profiles on the front page of veganbodybuilding?
  10. What do you eat? I found a lot of cool infos here (for beginners): http://scoobysworkshop.com And good luck for your challenge!
  11. Well, it's not because you eat a drug that a mouse will be tortured. The drug is not made out of the dead carcass of an abused animal and then packaged. So taking that drug will not create more or less harm or suffering (it has been done in the past). The problem is financial support of an industry we don't want to support. And I still don't understand why animal testing & medication is so intense in your point of view... you would accept to die rather than to be taking a drug tested on animals. But what about food? The harvest might most likely have killed some animals, and not to mention that organic food are grown with animal products (from their shit to their blood or bones). Do you try to eat ONLY vegan organic food? You are writing this on a plastic molded keyboard made out of petrol thanks to the "non-natural" science and technology of humans... you say that you choose to live a "natural" life? I think that a good vegan is a dead vegan. If you really want to be a consequent vegan : kill yourself, now. There is no alternative to living with zero animal exploitation in our modern world, and there is no distinction between medication, food or clothing. None is the most problematic, the problem is general and called "speciesim". That's what we have to fight in my opinion.
  12. Thanks mate! Will you keep on going? Your improvements are certainly a great way to lead by example and to show that there is no need of any animal product to get bigger... I hope I'll get there too!
  13. Thanks Nicolas Weir & James, You might be right about fresh fruits & veggies, the problem is that I want to have my 9 servings of fruits & veggies / day (recommended for long term health). But I find it already difficult to consume my 3.000 calories, I'll try to get my body used to it, little by little and then eventually see if I could go with more food...
  14. I love my vegetarian shoes, I have one pair ("cambridge oxford") that I wear almost everyday for the past 3years and except that I have to re-sole it, the fabric is as good as new! Only problem is that those dress shoes are extremely slippery (walking on humid or sandy flat surfaces is not very safe, maybe it can be solved with new sole?). So I have also some sneakers that do the job very well and winter boots that are great and robust. It's a good investment for long lasting shoes.
  15. Thanks for the infos, what size are you? I've a similar (even more) scrawny & weak body as you in the first picture, with the same weight. Just starting with a 3.000 cal diet and it feels like a lot of food already
  16. Hi everyone, It would be great if you could give me your opinion about this : (& is it safe on the long run?) Weight: 140.8 pounds (64kg) Hight: 70.5 inch (179cm) I want to bulk up with this: Every day: - Seeds & Nuts (mix of flax, pumpkin, sesame, sunflower & english walnuts) 60g - Dry fruits (mix of dates, raisins, figs, plums) 60g - Lentils or Beans 300g (when cooked) - Millet & Quinoa OR Buckwheat & Brown rice 400g (when cooked) - Oatmeal 200g - Soy & Pea protein 50g - Seitan 100g - Tempeh 100g - Olive oil 12g Total: -- 168g protein | 361g carb | 66g fat | 2.600 cal Veggies & fruits, each days: - banana (80g), - apple (160g), - spinach (80g), - broccoli or Brussels sprouts (150g), - parsley (30g), - tomato (80g), - carrot (150g) a bit of ginger, lemon, and 1 other serving of fruits and vegetables to bring variety (depending on the season). With those, total would be around: 180g protein | 445g carb | 66g fat | 3000 cal What do you think?
  17. Same you had to put with the rest... my problems mainly came from my father, it was the same as you before I was veg, and it turned out to be constant bullying each meals with family (every day) for 6 years (13years old to 19), then I left his home and now have almost no contact with him... If you can afford it, try to put it in their nose and tell them how you feel about what you just told us, it won't change anything for them (always go to their place with your own food that you can share and they would also like IF they feel like trying it), you would like them trying to understand you and appreciate you the way you are rather than being in opposition... If then can't respect you, that's a real pity but you can't hide it from your family if you still want contact with them.
  18. Ok, my questions might seem very basic, if not stupid: - As we are talking of processed food (hemp protein, rice protein, pea protein, soy protein...), wouldn't it been even better to take soy protein powder and have hole cooked brown rice, pea and hemp next to it (in order to get the variety and nutriments that can be found in those hole foods rather than in their processed products)? - If one plant protein powder is better digested, is better used by our organism and has higher amino acids values: what are the good things that brings the other plants protein powder in the game? (in other words, what does "variety" means and why is that good thing?) Taking only soy powder also imply that a smaller quantity of protein powder would be consumed in the total (as the soy has the best profile of them all), so it lowers my intake of processed foods (which from what I understand is good). Or am I wrong?
  19. http://www.veganhealth.org/articles/misc Don't know if that's any help...?
  20. Don't take my post wrong, but why not using soy as it has a Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score similar to egg whites or casein (whey)? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDCAAS Isn't soy protein a great (well, the best should I say) plant protein source?
