  1. low intensity and a BCAA taken during workouts to not burn up your lean muscle, IMO and I would never do 3 hours in one day... would be too afraid I'd eat up too much muscle, even at low intensity. This is different advice that that of endurance athletes whose primary goal isn't bodyfat loss, which it sounds like your goal is...
  2. Dont call me dumb. Except for those housewifes from anywhere, I like bravo programming. so what is your "guilty pleasure" on cable? Mine are "Flipping Out" which just finished... I was addicted to that show! And I also like the Millionaiire Listings one. I like "Girl On The Loose" and "Rachel Zoe" project... okay... and this one is TRULY SHAMEFUL... but I like "New York Goes To Hollywood" even though it is so scripted and ridiculous... its like roadkill... you don't wanna look but you just have to. I can't get into any dating reality shows though... they nauseate me. Thanks Tasha. Nitrofusion has 9 grams of sugar which I actually don't consider that high. That's equal to about 2 teaspoons. I don't have it that often, cuz like I said, it cuts into my carb count, and I'd much rather have a flame-crisped Ezekiel tortilla with avocado and salsa as my carb as opposed to something I can't bite down on, like the carbs in Nitrofusion Thanks I'm Your Man... yep, that is a glass bridge carved into the side of the Grand Canyon. The whole thing is run by an Indian Tribe out there. It was SO EXPENSIVE. My ex spent $256.00 on 4 tickets for us... I knew I kept him around for a reason... ha, ha... kidding. Upright Rows 4 x 12 @ 60 lbs Barbell Curls 4 x 12 @ 50 lbs Rope Pulldown 4 x 12 @ 45 lbs Stepmill - 1 hour - level 8 - 10... I think it is programmed low though, because it didn't feel that difficult at a level 9. Will work out again later. I don't expect to keep up a 2 a day pace forever, but I didn't exactly eat healthy in the Grand Canyon, so trying to do some make-up work.
  3. Harley... Yep, I've had Nitrofusion. Its pretty good. I have Vanilla and Chocolate. I guess the only thing I don't like about it is the 12 grams of carbs because that takes away from my complex carb servings for the day, which are so limited anyways that I enjoy having them when I can. But I think its a good product. Tasha... yep! Love the "bananas" line and I love when she says... "OH MY GOD... DIE!!!" everytime she sees a dress she likes. I don't know why I find the show so entertaining... Either its actually funny or I"m very easily amused Hey Alison. So good to here from you! And its great to here your maintaining 123 as I remember you being so happy just to be in the 120's altogether, so it sounds like you reached your goal or got pretty darn close!!! Good for you! Sedona was fun. Didn't get to see nearly as much as I wanted too. One of my favorite things was seeing the Caverns of Grand Canyon. Here is me, my ex-boyfriend, my daugher and his daughter. They are best friends so it makes it easy to travel! http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc14/penelopepope/Skywalk.jpg
  4. thanks Pazios! thanks Denise! Sedona is in Arizona very close to the grand canyon. It's supposed to be one of the most beautiful and spiritual places in the U.S. http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc14/penelopepope/sedonapicturerevised.jpg thanks Tasha! Actually... I'm ashamed to admit the show... It was the Rachel Zoe project on Bravo. I just like people with quirky personalities and she kept saying really funny things and they take fashion so serious that it is really humorous to watch. I get really into shows that alot of people would find really dumb. LOL ****************** Feels really good to see glimpses of my former self! Having said that... can't believe I let it get this far out of whack.. but I guess we all need a break. It feels good to feel everything tightening up and to start seeing bodyparts that have been covered in a layer of fat. On a side note, I find myself getting impatient with some of my clients... especially when you start to here the exact same excuses over and over. "I don't have any time"... "it's so hard".... Well... who told you it was supposed to be easy????? I seriously think that some people are still under the impression this should be easy stuff. It is so dang hard sometimes I wanna cry. Not a night goes by that I still don't yearn for a glass of wine or some popcorn or ANY bad carb. Not a day goes by that I don't dread walking into the gym to do my weights and cardio. I'm not one of these people that just LOVES LOVES LOVES working out and eating healthy. I'd usually rather be sitting in front of a movie with a bottle 'o wine, a tub of french fries and the remote... but THAT lifestyle makes me FEEL like shit and have low self esteem and the PAYOFF isn't worth feeling bad about myself everyday. Plus I want to turn as many people as I can onto this way of life and we live in a visual society that worships fitness, health and beauty... therefore its the best way I can offer to turn more people onto a Vegan diet. Sure there are some days that its easier than other to go to the gym and every once in a blue moon I actually feel like doing cardio... LOL.... but most of the time it is HARD, and there is a power and strength that comes from letting it be hard and doing it anyways. People that just go get there fat sucked out or take shortcuts are completely shortchanging themselves from the confidence and self esteem that comes from EARNING it. When you've EARNED it through your blood, sweat and tears, no one can take that away from you! On that note, I gotta go suck down a bloody protein shake and get my toushe to the gym!!!
  5. It's good to here you're putting your health first and taking care of yourself above anything else. Sounds like the doctor may have given you some information you weren't expecting. Are you able to tell us what you were diagnosed with or is it private? Normally I wouldn't ask, but you've always been so "no hold bar" about your life... I figured you'd share it if it isn't too private. If it's not something you wish to share, I TOTALLY understand Again... I'm sure I'm pointing out the obvious to you again here... but it really is a calories in versus calories out game (along with the right macronutrient breakdown of course). I have obsessively studied the diets of figure competitors for years. One piece I've gathered from it is that it also comes down to how our own individual bodies respond. Two figure competitors could be on the exact same diet and have be the exact same height, weight, age, etc... but one could get away with 20 minutes of cardio a day... and the other would be holding fat at that little of cardio and she'd need to do an hour and a half a day to get it off. So if your taking in more calories now, obviously more cardio is necessary... along with then just being patient for your body to figure out what your doing different so it can properly adapt and let go of fat. I absolutely know you're capable of coming in exactly where you need to be because of your drive and discipline. Keep up the great work! I think I have to do twice the cardio of most people to keep my weight in check because I probably messed my body up with yo-yo dieting for so many years. I can't help but be a little jealous of women who can get away with a lot less cardio to acheive and maintain a certain look. But hey... whatever it takes right! Okay, I've gone off on a complete tangent... sorry! Just wanted to tell you I know you're gonna do what it takes because of your discipline!!!! Keep up the great work
  6. The bored used to have millions of sub-categories and it was cut in half. I agree that too many sub-categories are overwhelming, but I don't think its at that point yet. I think the Raw Foodist category should stay BECAUSE of your reasoning that it could lead to disagreements and that is why I think its best that people interested in that lifestyle have an area to discuss it with other Raw Foodists. If you put it all together, I foresee more disagreements because you have 2 drastically different sets of advice. That happens a little bit already... which is fine... but I think it is minimalized BECAUSE we have a seperate Raw Food section that people can refer too with their questions.
  7. I definitely think Raw Food should stay and I think Vegan Recipes should stay... Its good now... I think ya should just let it ride for awhile Rob... lots of change at once causes me stress
  8. um... excuse me, but I just did 2 hours on the Stepmill... I could have gone longer, but I didn't want to burn my muscle.... Okay, tremendously proud... now I must have a protein shake
  9. Since I've been taking in small increments of healthy fats at every meal for months... I can't imagine ever eating any other way! It's the best and our bodies just use it up... as I'm sure you are aware! Keep up the great work! I do not have any idea how you accomplish all that you do.
  10. diet 100% on track. today: Ball Squats 90 seconds - 4 sets Barbell Deadliftts - 4 sets 70# Leg Curl - 4 sets - 40 lbs Standing Calf Raise - 4 sets - 160# have to get some cardio in after I train to clients. I am working so very hard for so very little money... something has got to give... OH... did I mention I'm going to Sedona this weekend????? Very very excited. We're staying in Sedona and also seeing the Grand Canyon. Never seen either. Very exciting! Going with an ex-boyfriend who is paying for everything, so it was impossible to refuse! Our daughters are still best friends too and he's really fun to hang out with. I am excited! Whose been to Sedona? Anything I MUST see or do?
  11. thanks so much I"m Your Man and BW.... really good comments. I've read all that you said I'm Your Man and will definitely be taking pieces from what you wrote. BW, I'm going to read the "How to Talk To a global warming skeptic" in detail... that is awesome!! Your blogs are great!!! thanks for the support everyone.... We have to show the kids that they can and should stand up and try to make a difference....
  12. Okay, so let me start off this discussion by saying that I am really NOT interested in this turning into a debate in whether or not Global Warming is real and in fact happening or it isn't. I am looking for concrete evidence/arguments/studies showing that it is. I realize SOME people don't believe in it, and I'd like this to not turn into that kind of thread. I really need some arguments supporting it and here is why.... So I'll start off by saying that I became a Vegan because I came across some studies that showed that the Methane and the Factory Farms were doing more damage than the C02 gasses that we are focusing on reducing, and how if everyone became Vegetarian we could actually reverse some of the manmade causes of climate change. Also that Methane is a much stronger gas than C02 (I think it's 17%) and somewhere between 20 and 40% of all Methane is caused by the Factory Farms... mostly from the livestock we raise as food. These studies were compelling enough for me to turn Vegan the very next day and I've never looked back. Okay... so my daughter just started the 4th grade. She came home telling me that her teacher said that Global Warming is make believe and it isn't really happening. That a bunch of guys in a room were bored one day and made it up.... He went on to say that anyone who believed it was real is full of baloney. Okay, so as you can imagine I had a major... MAJOR problem with the teacher telling a class of over 30 4th graders that Global Warming was a big scam. I mean, aren't we an extremely apathetic socieity anyways? Now he has convinced an entire room... our FUTURE GENERATION.... that he is right and that Global Warming doesen't exist and that we are absolutely powerless to do anything about it. So I scheduled a conference with the teacher and told him that if he was going to take such a stand on the issue and go as far as to say... "Anyone who believes Global Warming exists is full of baloney"... then he should give me the floor to present an opposite viewpoint than his. He reluctantly agreed that he should give me the floor and now I've been given the opportunity to present the class with the opposing viewpoint. (Man, it sucks to be passionate about your beliefs sometimes... kidding... sort-of ) So I would like some links/suggestions, etc... and to here from some people who can help me say some intelligent things to the class. Here is what I would say so far... (and I'm a bit rusty cuz I don't read up on this stuff everyday, so that's why I need help from people who are more well versed than me in the subject. I would tell the class that I believe there IS some naturally occuring cyclical things going on in nature that shows we may be in a natural warming trend, etc. HOWEVER... I also believe that we are contributing to the warming of the planet. (Okay this is where I need facts to back it up). I did read an article a few months ago that we took tests under the ice and the C02 and dangerous gasses that are trapped under the ice are off the charts from our waste. I also want to present that it's naive to think that we can live in a world of Gluttony and Greed (of course I'll put that in kid-friendly 9 year old words...) and expect that we are doing nothing to contribute to what is happening around us regarding the change in temperature and the depletion of the ozone layer. I want to present the kids with the fact that recycling, reusing and reducing what we buy, eat, etc CAN help reduce some of the manmade causes of Global Warming. I am obviously going to gently present that factory farms are harming the environment more than the C02 and that by eating LESS MEAT (I don't want to get the teacher in trouble by telling the whole class to become Vegan... baby steps) we are helping to drive down the Supply/Demand for meat which could cause less meat to be produced and eventually less damage to be done to the Environment. Anyone have anything to add? Articles? Ways of phrasing things? I can't get too sciencey with a room of 4th graders... but I do want them to feel that they CAN make a difference... that they CAN help undo some of the damage. I have a small window of opportunity to plant a seed in 1 or 2 childrens minds that what they do and how they live DOES matter. Again, arguments supporting this discussion only, please...Thanks.
  13. Isn't that what veganfitness.com is??? "rest of Europe?" Feels like it sometimes... LOL
  14. are you ever not traveling? Are you able to get your workouts in no matter where you are, or does that suffer because of all the travel? ... just curious.

  16. good luck with the medical stuff. hope they don't find anything serious...
  17. I can relate... Especially Hams and Glutes... when I've laid off for a month or two and then try to give and "intermediate" effort... I feel the pain for a week or more! I feel the Xtend helps with soreness and muscle recovery alot.
  18. 1) I think it's good to get a variety in. Flax Seed, Udo's, Hemp, Safflower... a little of everything 2) Nitrofusion, Vega, Procore Advance, Gemma Pea Protein... just google some of these names and you'll find bunches 3) I don't get hung up on post and pre workout meals. I just try to eat within 45 minutes of a workout and then get something in 30 - 45 minutes prior that has a balance of Protein, Carbs and good fats
  19. I am seeing glimpses of my former self and it is AWESOME!!!!!!!! It's all about planning in advance, getting the cardio in.... measuring and weighing.... all the stuff we don't want to do but it works like magic when it all comes together
  20. I LOVE Vegan Lunchbox!!! So is so creative! I also want to get the Uncheese Recipe Book (something like that) for some more creative family recipes.
  21. I don't see any point in going as low as that guy is going. In fact, that website has a lot of great old-school exercises, but I have a problem with the form that is demonstrated in most of them. I don't think its any more effective at all to go past parallel on tricep dips and way to much stress on the shoulder joints...
  22. I think that's a great idea!!!! But I think you should to it tonight. You just started working out again... that could effect that random little number on the scale... You may be near TOM... that could effect that random little number on the scale.... You could be stressed out and retaining water due to stress... that could effect the number on the scale... You could have something medical going on... that could effect the number.... You could be eating too much salt... that could effect that random number. That number means very little no matter how much we like to see it going down. Sometimes when we start working out after a long break, the body perceives this as a big shock to the system and won't let go of fat until it figures out what the heck your doing. I have two words for you... be patient.... be patient... be patient.... if your working out and not stuffing your face with bad carbs (a few pieces of candy doesen't count)... your not gaining fat, your retaining water... From the food logs you sent me, it doesen't sound like you eat alot anyway, so just trust that isn't actual fat you see on the scale and take your original suggestion... TAKE THE BATTERIES OUT OF THE SCALE... TONIGHT!!!
