I know none of you understand my language, and this book is of no use to you, but I just wanted to share my joy of finally seeing it published! It is the first vegan cookbook ever published in Serbian, so this is huuuuge! This is the link to the Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Zdravi-recepti-Veganski-kuvar/154218691339100 http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/3696/prednjakoricamini.jpg

Tired of getting corn holed 4 bucks at Starbucks for a latte? Tired of playing Russian roulette with the 'beetus from all the sugar in them? Then have I got a deal for you. It's ridiculously simple to make your own lattes, all organic, for just pennies. Here's what you need. -1 Cup soymilk -1 2-3oz super strong cup of tea or coffee. -1 TSP of sugar -Cinnamon or Nutmeg for garnish and the flavors -MUSCLES TO WHISK THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR CONCOCTION. For this example we will be making a tea latte. To make a coffee latte just brew a super strong cup of coffee. I use a Keurig but you could easily you a coffee pot to make strong coffee, just skimp on the water. Start by p…

Ya, i know all the million websites that give soy flour recipes. But im very short of time & i need to add just a little soy flour of 30 grams ( which gives an extra 15 grams of protein) at 1-2 meals per day... I dont have time to prepare pan cakes etc with it... Will it do if i just dry roast the flour at low temperature for 2-3 minutes & then add it directly to the vegetables that im cooking ? Is this known to cause stomach irritability etc? ( I dont have soya allergy till date). Or is it possible to throw in soy flour when boiling legumes in pressure cooker? will it work ? Taste is my LAST OPTION IN LIFE - So, Someone pls enlighten me on how to use t…

1) I pressure cook my lentils. It saves time. Quite often, lentils get slightly overcooked that they become mushy sort of. Do the proteins get altered in quality /quantity , when cooked in this way ? 2) Also, if i cook 100 gram lentils (raw weight) in a pressure cooker & consume the entire amount in one sitting, do i get in 22-25 grams proteins. (Data everywhere says that 22-25 grams proteins are present in 100 grams raw weight of lentils). Kindly clear these doubts . Thanks in advance !!

I just posted an intro in guess where, the Introduction section. I am interested in lowering my carb intake during my time while eating Vegan. I see a lot of recipes call for Wheat Flour and I would like to replace that with a low carb flour/substitute. Say if it calls for 1 cup of Wheat Flour what can I do? Can I replace it completely with Almond Meal or Coconut flour. I would like to get more coconut in my diet but the flour seems so absorbent.

Why hasn't anyone formulated a protein powder with lentils? High in protein and low in sodium? Anyone know? Anyone have a recipe for one they make at home?

Here's a quick chili recipe that I've been using while bulking: - 2 cans of Amy's Vegan Chili * If you can't find Amy's, anything with similar nutritional info would work - (per can) - calories: 445 / fat: 14g / carbs: 55g / fiber: 11g / protein: 24g ... or you could make it from scratch, but then it wouldn't be quite as quick... - 1 cup cooked quinoa - 1 1/2 cup cooked red lentils - 1/2 cup nutritional yeast - 1 1/2 cup cooked kidney beans Everything is already cooked, so I just mix it together and simmer for a little while to let the flavors mix. I split it into 3 meals, so each has: Calories: 625 Fat: 11.8g Carbs: 94g (Fiber: 26g = Net Carbs: 68g) Protein:…

Hey everyone! So after 3-4 YEARS of false starts I am inching my way back into an exercise routine. I just finished my third week of every other daily (MWF) 2.5 mile runs and I am FINALLY relieved to say I am getting back into that zone where working out is a necessity, not just that thing I used to do and wish I could back to. (I think I have made intro posts to the forum once or twice before, so I shall spare you those mundane details.) After two and a half years of veganism, I feel like I have outgrown most cluelessness about what the heck to eat except... BREAKFAST! I have some go to things (tofu scramble, steel-cut oats w/fruit and nuts etc) but I need some new t…

Does anybody make they're own flavored vegan cream cheese? I would like to do a green chile version. I'm open to from-scratch recipes, as well as blending a plain pre-made version with various ingredients. Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm looking for good sauces and dressings for quinoa, couscous, rice, bean salads etc.. Preferably some that don't use oil (or don't use much). I'm getting very bored of food lately and thought this might help. Thank you!

Per serving: blend 1/2 c each hemp-fu and water, 2 T raw rice protein, 1 T each xylitol and cocoa powder, 1/4 t cinnamon until smooth. Works beautifully to satisfy cravings for a sweet, creamy, chocolate-y vegan dessert; while contributing protein (hemp and rice), EFAs (hemp), flavonoids (cocoa), and calcium absorption (xylitol).

No, this is not a new style of MMA. It's an alternative to soy-based tofu. I actually love tofu; but the more that I read about the phytin and other potential estrogenic issues, the more I want to stay away from it. Blend 2 cups of shelled, chopped hemp seed in 3 cups of purified water for approximately a minute, until you have a thick, rich cream. Pour the cream into a large pan, and turn the heat to medium. Curds will start to form quickly. Stir occasionally. Once it starts to boil, keep it at a gentle boil for around 5 minutes. Line a colander with cheesecloth, and drain. Allow to cool, and squeeze the remaining liquid out. Put the curds into a small container, and p…

Just tried Explore Asian black bean spaghetti. It has a marvelous texture, like a "real" pasta. Get this - it is made only with organic black beans and water, nothing else. So it's gluten-free, contains 20 (!) g of protein per serving, and is low in sodium. The dark color makes a nice visual background for green, red, and orange veggies. Perfect for vegan bodybuilders!

While this hummus is organic, low in sodium, and packed with nutrients ("the good"); the Peruvian cereza peppers will knock your socks off ("the evil"). Wilderness Poets Hempspread substitutes for tahini to add extra omega EFAs and protein, and adds a slightly different, earthier flavor. Drain a can of Eden Organics no-salt-added garbanzos, reserving liquid and pouring the beans in a food processor. Place 1 dehydrated cereza pepper (two if you dare!) in garbanzo liquid, and gently for 5 minutes; once reconstituted, remove from liquid and dice finely. Place in food processor, along with 1 diced roma tomato, 2 T Hempspread, 2 T roasted garlic, 1 T balsamic vinegar, juice…

Fava beans

Hey, I grew my own this year, and I adore them. Anybody eating fava beans willing to give some ideas how to cook them? At the moment, I just boil them 3 minutes, fry them 30 sec in olive oil with garlic, then peal them and eat them with hands. The process remindes me of eating shrimps http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/2550/boba.jpg

I just dehydrated sprouted buckwheat and it is very dry - bone dry. I was wondering if it is possible to dehydrate food for too long? Also, is it really hard on the degestive system to eat foods such as my super dry sprouted buckwheat? Thanks

My latest passion in the world of Scoville Heat Units (SHUs) is Peruvian cereza peppers. These gorgeous, mahogany-colored globes pack 70,000-80,000 SHUs, and have an earthy, slightly berry-flavored taste. Be prepared for a flurry of new recipes. I'm on fire for cereza peppers!
