I also wasn't crazy about the hemp thing, as if regular food doesn't have protein.

Oh, I wasn't saying you discredit it. What I mean is, if the guy who invented the word "vegan" himself lives to 95, veganism can't be that bad, like some people say. My question is, why do you and Zack have the same signature?
-
Dunno, but did you know Donald Watson, founder of the Vegan Society and inventor of the word vegan, died in 2005, at age 95? At the age of 14, he became a vegetarian, and in the 1940s, after learning about milk production, he became a vegan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Watson Whether veganism can be credited for his long life, I dunno, but you can't discredit veganism as being unhealthy based on this.

How many calories do animals consume?
Katabatic replied to oselifer's topic in Health & Nutrition Programs
That's cause they can digest cellulose, and we can't. Cellulose—a naturally occurring polymer made of repeat units of the monomer glucose. This is the same glucose which your body metabolizes in order to live, but you can't digest it in the form of cellulose. Because cellulose is built out of a sugar monomer, it is called a polysaccharide. -
Apparently I'm not getting enough of Vitamin Milk.

You're asking if you need salad? I don't think so, if you don't want it. I found an interesting article on how to eat fruits. http://chennaionline.com/food/healthandnutrition/fruithab.asp Basically, eating fruits with or after other food makes them stay in your stomach longer than they should be. So you should probably eat fruits 30 minutes BEFORE other foods

Fasting cure and working out.
Katabatic replied to slavetothegrind's topic in Bodybuilding/Strength Training
Yeah, this seems like a good idea. Eating a lot of fruits would give energy for training. -

Fitting work outs into my schedule around meals.
Katabatic replied to C.O.'s topic in Health & Nutrition Programs
Yeah, I was wondering this too. What's the best food to eat before a workout for energy, and how long to wait? -
Have you checked out the site www.iter.org ? Fusion nuclear energy, making abundant and clean power in a similar way to the sun. But my bets are on solar: http://www.celsias.com/2007/11/23/nanosolars-breakthrough-technology-solar-now-cheaper-than-coal/ "Their PowerSheet cells contrast the current solar technology systems by reducing the cost of production from $3 a watt to a mere 30 cents per watt. This makes, for the first time in history, solar power cheaper than burning coal."

Livestock serious environmental problem--more CO2 than cars
Katabatic replied to Katabatic's topic in General Discussion
"as measured in CO2 equivalent", title didn't have space to say that anyway. There is also actual CO2 involved, too, from the burning of fossil fuels for their production -
I don't know if this has been posted here, but perhaps being vegan for environmental reasons could be the most significant now. http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=20772&Cr=global&Cr1=environment http://www.fao.org/ag/magazine/0612sp1.htm Rearing cattle produces more greenhouse gases than driving cars, UN report warns 29 November 2006 – Cattle-rearing generates more global warming greenhouse gases, as measured in CO2 equivalent, than transportation, and smarter production methods, including improved animal diets to reduce enteric fermentation and consequent methane emissions, are urgently needed, according to a new United Nations report released today. “Livestock are one of the most significant contributors to today’s most serious environmental problems,â€

Double-edged sword. Seriously, I think this forum needs an update. This is also a security issue. I was on another forum that was not updated, it got hacked, and went down in flames.
