Greetings! I am new to the forum(per recommendation from Robert), and wanted to introduce myself.. This seems like a very open and informative place, so hopefully we can all gain something from one another. : ) My name is Courteney, and I am vegetarian since birth(raised), vegan since the age of 11(going on 11 years now), and mostly raw for almost 3 years(I tend to fall in the 80-90% raw range).. Still improving myself and my diet however I can. As far as fitness goes... I grew up a dancer(12 yrs->ballet, modern and jazz), and a swimmer, I practice yoga, and am a certified STOTT Pilates instructor. Have recently gotten into running and cycling as well... and…

My name is Isaac. I grew up in Corvallis, Oregon and ran in the same circles as Robert (the story is that I got my friend Jordan into weight lifting and he got Robert into weight lifting, so I figure he really owes it all to me, Jordan, and his sister, who got him into Veganism). I live just south of Portland now and as of this year have changed my eating habits from no red meat to no meat and almost no dairy (I still am eating yogurt, so I am not really a vegan!) I was talking to Robert about vegan/vegitarian food, protein consumption, daily variety, etc... and he suggested I check out this site. So far I have seen a bunch of great recipe ideas and some good talk a…

Hey Everyone, I used to be a strength athlete but now I'm on a new path...I'm still interested though. Anyway I was an all-american shot putter in High School and I turned vegan as soon as I went to college(after only about 2 months I guess). My last years of HS I got alot of injuries keeping my strength and such. My best lifts were 340lbs bench, 550lbs squat, 290lbs clean. I was eating tons of terrible food as we all were before we went vegan and I was supplementing like a maniac(creatine mostly). Anyway I got injured in college and never got the results I wanted due to a hand injury but my lifts that seemed to have peaked increased dramatically when I went v…

Seeing Robert's MySpace page and now reading over all the great information found on this site...has been enough to inspire and motivate me to make some important changes. I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone! This is a fantastic site thanks again for the invite!

Hey! I'm from Ontario and have been a vegetarian for the past 5 years. I have not yet fully become a vegan because there just seems to be far more knowledge to obtain before I could ever use the term properly. I hope to get to know some people on here, it's great that there's a place where like minded people can come together and chat. Ciao~

i've been reading the forums for a while now and have finally decided to join. i'm not a true vegan - still have a little dairy and eggs but i guess i'm moving that way (a friend showed me a book that's made me realize even though i don't eat meat, i could still eat much better.) i've been into fitness for about ten years, since catching a glimpse of my 6'1 128 lb body in a window. i'm now about 195 give or take a couple. i suppose that's about it. i look forward to participating in the forums. ian b

Hi All! I'm new to the VBB forum, but others might know me from the VF one. Lets see, I live in El Paso, Texas. Its great here, except for the fact that it is one of the most vegan-UNfriendly places I've ever lived . But other than that, the weather is great, the landscape is breathtaking, the people are nice, and I have a good gym to train in. What else could one need ? I'm a powerlifter, have competed a couple of times at small local events, but I would like to get strong enough to compete on a larger scale. I'm also a martial artist, studying Hapkido, although I have no school at the moment. I'm starting college again this fall for Geology, hoping to finis…

Hello everyone! My name is Liam, I live in Portland, OR. I am a frequent reader of this board, first time poster. I was at school (PCC - Cascade campus) today and saw Robert, recognized him from the boards and introduced myself. He couldn't have been any nicer, although he was wrapping his 'expo' up he took time to talk to me and hooked me up with a bunch of samples and literature. So, I figured I would come on here and become part of this great community. I am a vegetarian, though I am intrigued and definitely considering a vegan diet, I am extremely interested in bodybuilding and I am hoping this forum will help me get those aspirations going. Thanks for listeni…

My name is Meg, I am a 21 year old cyclist and runner. I've been vegan since just before Thanksgiving 2005. I have been vegetarian for six years, and realized after several stints at a vegan lifestyle, that the animals, my body, and the environment no longer needed my excuses for not going all the way and living a vegan lifestyle. So here I am. I was introduced to Robert Cheeke through myspace, and that's what brings me to this website. I am by no means a bodybuilder, but I love to bike, walk, or run instead of drive, or just run and swim for fun. An active lifestyle is essential to my veganism. I am allergic to wheat, which gave people their doubts when I first wen…

Hi, my name is Liz. I'm 31 years old, vegetarian for 5 years, vegan since November and LOVING IT! My husband went from omnivore to vegan in November too and he too is loving it. Feeling great. I even do vegan personal chef/consulting for 3 clients currently. I've always enjoyed cooking and vegan cooking is a wonderful adventure with numerous rewards! I've been a yoga instructor since 2003. However, I just joined a gym yesterday because I have never (that's right, I said never) done any cardio consistently and I feel like I better get started. I think my resting heart rate is a little high due to this. Before I started doing yoga in 1997, at the age of 22, I didn…

Hello from the southern hemisphere.... I only just discovered this site, glad to see that there are so many vegans out there that are into weight training and so much good information... Here is a bit about me... I've been Vegan for 4 years (was vegetarian before that, until I saw the light), I'm currently training 5 days a week... I'm 6'3 and 225 pounds at the moment, but I'd like to bulk out a little more, hoping to get to about 240... I can get bigger, but then I have to buy new clothes... Chris

This is my first question on the forum, and I hope Robert can answer it. Here's a question: Hair is made of protein, and vegans don't get enough protein because they don't eat meat, so how do vegans grow hair--or do you just go bald shortly after going vegan.

hi, i'm g. charles. i became a vegetarian only 7 months ago, although my lifestyle and diet has been very veg-friendly for nearly 20 years. my reason for changing has been health motivated. i never thought i'd feel this "alive" as a vegetarian, but now i'm spreading the word! i am also seeing the benefits of going vegan, and it really makes sense. eggs and whey protein are the vices that i would need to replace. i'm an avid runner and a former martial artist (kung fu san soo). recently i blew out my right elbow, and that's keeping me from push-ups/pull-ups for the time being. i am also gay, which i mention only because my family seems to have no issue with that at…

Hi my name is dorothy, I am from Miami, currently stuck in Cocoa. I have been a vegan for over 20 years. When I first became a vegan, it was so hard to find food, explain to people what was an animal product and what was vegan, not Veggie. NO I CAN'T JUST TAKE THE PEPPORINI OFF THE PIZZA, I won't eat the pizza period, it has cheese on it. Yes Cheese is an animal (call it cow pus). No I don't want some of your candy bar and yes that is meat it has milk and yes jello is too red meat, it is made from animal parts and pieces. Yes honey and processed sugar are animals, (bee spit and flitered thru cow bones) I like my natural surgar just fine, and the rush is greater. I LIKE WE…

I've been reading here for quite awhile now. This seems like a great website with a lot of knowlegable people. I've been vegetarian (boderline vegan) for the past four months. This is not the first time in my life I've given up meat but after the birth of my daughter I guess I really started to question things in terms of what's healthy and what's not. I read both of John Robbin's books and I haven't looked back. I just wanted to say hey and I look forward to learning more and more. The Vegan lifestyle fascinates me and I find myself being drawn into it more and more. At first I told people I gave up meat for health reasons but the more I read the more I'm tellin…

I recently decided to become a vegan for health reasons. I then discovered how animals are treated, the effects of meat on the body, and I was shocked. My name is Leo and I'm 18. I've been into health and exercise since I was 14. I started caring about my body because I was really overweight. I dropped an insane amount of bodyfat (gradually of course) and I looked good and felt good. Now I'm 5'11'' and weigh around 210 lbs. I'm not a bodybuilder I'm a bodysculpter. I'm heavily into meditation and the occult. And veganism will keep my body pure. I do Yoga and am studying Rei-ki.

The Mighty Haru has arrived!! My buddy Raw AMbition told me about this site a while back when I told him I was thinking about turning into a veghead. I'm a Mixed Martial Artist who has been completely inactive for almost an entire year now (many injuries from training, and family that just doesn't understand the sport). During this period of "inactiveness" the Mighty Haru gained a few poundages. 30 of them to be exact. I went from 190lbs (that's what I weighed in at my last fight in April of 2005) to 220lbs as of September 2005!!! I started a new job in Sept 2005 and they have a gym there....so now there's no excuses right? Started training on day one and bl…

Hi all! My husband and I are fruitarians/natural hygienists. We have had some trouble being 100% as from time to time we have had a little cooked food, mostly steamed veggies, or (gasp) bread. Yeah i know we are sooo bad, lol. Now are back to being 100% and have been so inspired by Robert and others to up our fitness routine. We started running and weight lifting. u can see some more here http://www.myspace.com/veganlori have some great pics of chris. That was a while ago, he's working on getting back in shape. We are also the designers of Living Nutrition magazine. We design websites, and other print & web media. We also started a vegan online bus…

Hell to all my old friends on the site and all then newbies. Even though I am not new, I am posting in this category because I haven't written in a while. I have been a member of veganbodybuilding.com since 2004, I believe, maybe 2003. I can't quite remember now. But anyway, although I may not post as much as I used to, I stil hang out reading things on the site quite often. It still amazes me how much this site has grow in the past couple years - truly amazing and that alone serves a sign of inspiration to us all about the health, longevity, and growth of the vegan movement. I also figured now was a good time to re-introduce myself because I see there are a couple…

I've been gone all year (last August) because of an elbow surgery and now I'm fully recovered and started going back to the gym every day! Man, am I stoked. It's frustrating losing all the hard work from last summer, but its ok, because I have the determination to get it all back and more. VEGAN POWER!
