  1. You want to know something dumb that a city did? One time when Bush came to make a speech in one of the cities in my area, EVERY cop was there to regulate it. There was a series of three bank robberies that day.
  2. I tried the modified upright rows today and they seemed to hit my traps, delts, etc. all the good stuff you want to have hit while doing them actually better than normal ones because I was able to do more weight. What are high pulls?
  3. I agree with you completely on this. I also wouldn't eat them for my own reasons, but it is perfectly natural for people to eat them, so I wouldn't have a problem with others eating them. So long as like you said, they are only collected.
  4. Since I am taking German as my foreign language for my B.A., I am going to try to read those lyrics tonight and see what I get out of them.
  5. Welcome to the boards! I am around the Wrigley Field area quite often at certain times of the year; it is my main area to visit in Chicago.
  6. That is awesome. I was lucky enough to see a wild moose in a trip out west once; they are a truly majestic creature to look upon.
  7. From Funker Vogt: The character which we need They live all in common And without self-interest But we kill them to get the cash Don't you think that is trash? We respect the cunning of a fox But our weekend trip is it's death We hunt them with happiness And they never get away We would like to have Nine lives of a cat But we run it over - just once We envy the birds They are free what we wish to be ...What we wish to be But we shoot at them ...We shoot at them We love them and respect them We hunt them and we shoot them We keep them and we feed them We hunt them and we kill them Man is just a sly animal Compare him with all others And you will see, he couldn't be a friend
  8. Ah, dang. I figured since it sounded like he was going to talk about the ethical and environmental implications of diets, he would HAVE to promote a vegan one.
  9. Well, it is much more natural to eat an insect than the animals people normally do. Eating insects is actually far more "normal" than chowing on a pig.
  10. I am going to continue with lifting and seeing if my body will transform well enough for me to compete as an amateur bodybuilder. I have always loved bodybuilding and started to despair a little when I became vegan, but this site has helped immensely in encouraging me to continue to strive.
  11. Haha, well if I make it out to Vegan Vacation I will try to remember to bring a bunch for you to gorge on for free. I need to buy a mortar and pestle now.
  12. Yeah, sometimes the minority does stifle the majority, but Christianity definitely does not get stifled. It isn't such a bad thing for the majority to have it stuck to them every now and then, though. The homeland security stuff is crap, agreed.
  13. In Boston there was a scare over some 'lite-brite' type devices which Aqua Teen Hunger Force execs used as an advertising campaign. The city wants to sue over costs caused by the terrorism scare. This is hilarious and seems a bit of an overreaction to me. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16921137
  14. Mmm, spinach is awesome in any form. Steamed spinach was availabe in my lunch hall today and I grabbed myself about a pound and a half of it with about a half pound of raw brocolli and not too shy of a pound of tofu. I have been having trouble gaining lately because I was focusing too much on raw veggies and was barely eating any beans or tofu. My protein intake was extremely low; I was eating healthy, but I want to build for the contest.
  15. *Michael John Burkett, more commonly known as Fat Mike, is the lead singer and bassist of the popular band NOFX, as well as bass player for Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. *Mac Danzig is an American professional mixed martial arts instructor & practitioner, and is a former champion for the King of the Cage and Gladiator Challenge mixed martial arts organizations. *Greg Cipes is an American voice and film actor. He is also a singer, musician, composer, and professional surfer. *Mutabaruka is a Jamaican dub poet. His name comes from the Rwandan language and translates as "one who is always victorious." I also know that Martin Luther King Jr. is a capricorn, as we share a birthday. I think Jim Carrey has a birthday within a few days of mine also.
  16. Has anyone read this book or heard about it? It is a bout a guy who is an omnivore and decides to look up the history of what we eat and such and discover the implications of our diet. I am not sure if it ends with a pro-vegan message, but it sounds like it. I may check and see if my library here at school has it; it sound interesting. http://www.michaelpollan.com/omnivore.php
  17. Well, of course they are; there is minority rule within the United States. Just look at the percentage of our senators who are black compared to our percentage of black citizens. (this was sarcasm, as I know it can hard to be detect on message boards)
  18. Yes, this is a very scientifici quiz; I would not have taken it and pasted it on my profile if it wasn't. If you check my MySpace, you will see I am particular about what I put on there. I don't have the message board code for mine, so here is is crappily formatted. You scored as industrial. industrial 100% Indie 70% reggae 65% Emo 65% Punk 65% metal 50% ska 45% mainstream rock 40% classic rock 40% grunge 40% Pop Punk 30% country 20% rap 15% Pop 0%
  19. I think mainly in my bio I just mentioned how I came from a hardcore hunting family and had to summon the courage to tell them about my feelings on hunting and such.
  20. I have a lot of listening to do! I checked out Eye of Judgement and I like them. Their shirts are awesome.
  21. Hm, I think I will try the modified upright rows. I do military press, but I like to have two compound exercises for my shoulders.
  22. Welcome! I went to Arizona once during a vacation; it was hot, hehe.
  23. Congratulations! I doubt my stomach would allow that. Did you feel perfectly fine at the end of the day? Definitely go for the peanut butter along with the dates; those are two very calorie-dense foods in massive amounts. I just did the math and that is about 3000 calories in dates. Wow.
  24. My favorite vegan (raw vegan, actually) band is Velvet Acid Christ. The band has an aggressive darkwave sound and many animal rights lyrics.
  25. I began to wonder when posting my topic about pea protein if there is such thing as quinoa protein isolate or concentrate, seeing as it is one of the kings of vegetable protein and has nearly no allergin problems, as soy does. Turns out it has been developed. I don't know when we will see it, though. Yay for a new vegan protein option, though. The present invention relates to a new source of high quality plant protein, termed, 'quinoa protein concentrate (QPC)', which contains at least about 50 wt % protein which is food-grade and/or pharmaceutical-grade and methods of preparing such protein concentrates as well as starch, oil, and fiber from quinoa grain. The quinoa protein concentrate of the invention is useful as food ingredients, infant formula ingredients, cosmetic ingredients, pet food ingredients, and animal feed supplements. http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/en/wo.jsp?WO=2005/058249
