  1. bring over a copy of "meet your meat" or "earthlings" with a toy story label on it for their children.
  2. Next time Mary, next time. I'll show those weights who's boss! Body by Ginger!!! passed a rugby ball for a solid half hour. then went for a short jog. then did some buddy carries and wheelbarrows (meesh, 190lbs. downgrade! no one big showed up ) then some lunges and squat jumps (still the squat jump champion) more sandbag action, front squats then hill sprint x4 each then 3x lay on the ground, spring up sprint 30 meters each person. Not too hard, but those front squat/hill sprints make me want to try. or walk. Funny thing is, it's like stair running. Going DOWN is so much worse than going up. Next BBG is a special edition challenge day. Exciting stuff. Will try to take pictures. It'll need to be documented.
  3. sweet. next time I'm in town I'll let you know. We need to meet for real. (We've been in your store at the same time when it was on lisbon, and once at the new place, but never formally introduced)
  4. NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! just don't train through it with more injury waiting on the other side.
  5. Awesome. Someday I'll be as strong as you. And atlas stones are sweet! Did you make your own? Did you buy a mold?
  6. I feel the same as cubby. Definitely. When I went vegetarian, both by parents were on the Atkins diet. That was fun...
  7. This thread is awesome. I'd almost given up on gluten. (Boiling it with no flour) Will try again tonight. That rules.
  8. Jordan, you're definitely on the right track. Eat, lift and grow. Check out beginner programs such as starting strength or stronglifts. Lots of us here have had good results with that one. Use more freeweights than machines. Eat, and sleep. Listen to your body. You'll be fine. Keep us posted. Nitrofusion is good. NOW made a vega knockoff. Otherwise custom ratio mixes from trueproteins.com gets a lot of mentions around here.
  9. Not to be sexist or anything, but when dudes in bands start wearing makeup (correction! Punk and harcore bands. Motley crue and poisin are amazing!), especially eyeliner, shit goes downhill. AFI, Eighteen Visions. Fall Out Boy. Its just not good.
  10. Vege, its all sacrifices. I chose to cut down the veggies for denser foods and faster progress. Not everyone does it thay way, but its easy for me to do it like this. Besides, unlike a lot of the people around here, I went vegan strictly for the animals. Healthy came later. My way may not be the healthiest (and I don't go around telling people to do it), but its temporary. Get where you want to be and then switch to maintenance diet and more veggies.
  11. Davey is, the rest aren't, and they totally BLOW after Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes. ARGUABLY after Black Sails in the Sunset. It really sucks, because Davey Havoc is pretty rad, but that band went in the shitter back in 2003 for sure. that is all. AFI 101 complete.
  12. Don't worry about things not coming in super quickly, it's still only been 3 weeks! Besides, your abs look great. You're definitely making quick progress. Looking very good. keep it up!
  13. questions and comments. 1) bike racers are big wussies. so are vegetarians. it makes sense. 2) what happened on saturdays stage? I saw that vinokourov won by 12 seconds over cavendish. knowing how both of those guys ride, I'd say that vino was in a group for a while that fell apart and he kept going, or there were a couple small hills with between 15-20 miles out from the finish and vino attacked solo and held them off. cav won the field sprint. how close am I? also, attacking the yellow jersey while off the bike is not ok. contador is a prick (and I used to like him. when he won paris-nice in 07 I called him to win the tour. I was right. but whatever. dudes too big for his britches. this whole shebang ALMOST makes me want to race bikes again!
  14. I am. another semester and one extra class and I'll be finished! (since I don't want to be an interpreter)
  15. because I just had a kick ass (if a little drawn out) workout where i established 1RM's. and I undershot the total! because I know I have a half a pint of soy delicious chocolate peanut butter soy cream in the freezer for after dinner. because I made 2 new friends today, and because my week long deaf culture immersion camp is a week and a half away and counting!
  16. sorry for the extra work, but i did for real 1rm checks today... squat @ 265 Dead @ 275 bench @ 165 705 total by math.
  17. Today was a designated "find out one rep max's and then work myself into the ground day." I did both. I told myself I would be happy with 250 squat, 300 dead and 150 bench... 200 on the nose bodyweight. 15 pull ups (neutral grip) Squat. 1x10 @ 135 for warm up. 1x5 @ 225. 1x1 at 250. 1x1 @265. attempted 275 twicebut stalled and failed both. 265 max. cooled down with 3 front squats/push press w/knee kick(thrusters, mary?) @ 135. Then 20 reps @ 135lbs. (backsquat) deadlift. 1x5 @ 225. 1x1 @ 275. failed the rest. started at 325, then down to 300, then down to 295 and couldn't do it. I could probably do more than 275 if I went up instead of down though. Next time. I saved bench for later because it sucks and i wanted a spotter. overhead press. 1x6, 1x6, 1x5 @ 95 row. 1x9, 1x9, 1x8 @ 115 shrugs. 3x10. 75lb dumbells. tri pullovers. 1x13, 1x8 @ 65lbs. I did curls today too. why not. like I said. into the ground. 1x12, 1x10, 1x8 @ 70lbs Now was bench. 1x5 @135, 1x1 @145, 1x1 155, 1x1@ 160, 1x1 @ 165. Max 165 Leg Press for kickers (even though 20 rep set of squats burned a good one. only 2 plates per side (+118lb machine = 343 lb total). 1x50 calf raise. 1x50 both legs. 1x20 each leg single and then 1x50 both legs to finish (literally) my legs. then I waddled on the treadmill for a few minutes to undo the hurt. Pretty ok with my results. 705 for a total I'm ok with for now. I'll check this once a month. BBG tomorrow should be fun!!!
  18. keep working hard and keep listening to you body! Chewy is a pro at stronglifts (and recovering from stronglifts inflicted injuries! (chewy, I'm just pokin'! ) You're on the right track!
  19. I don't buy it. listen to your body. if it's telling you to ease up, do it. otherwise give 'er hell. I'd love to know how mary feels about that, though. *disclaimer. you've seen where that gets me. It's because I tell myself to HTFU. not always the best idea.
  20. Cold fission, thanks! Pretty sure any bad ass that I have lives in my beard. As I scrolled up I saw you 'become the hammer' line amd the word hammer stuck out and I got excited for a west ham reference. Then I got disappointed. Your tag is still a good line, though.
  21. Wow, what a race! Also, prerace nerves are SUPER normal. Don't you get those before runs? You really are that tough, aren't you! Well done champ!
  22. Might I ask what you mean by 'rb'? And keep it up! It'llk come back. Can't force it though.
