  1. the legs rock, the food pic is to die for! I have shared I am OCD about being small and lean, but your motivation along w/ a few others here keeps me there...and like you its 365! (or I try) Keep it up! Thanks you!
  2. what a great young man! my son's age, kind of. very hopeful! We're coming to Jersey to watch you compete. We ate vegan crap! I ran stores in So Cal to see where my prospective employer is on store shelves, etc. I am making mock presentation and I want to show I know my stuff. So, I grabbed him the next day and took him to one of the largest Whoel Foods in So Cal, a really cool 6 store chain where we had lunch, then back to a trendy 4 store chain where the owner is one of the driving forces behind the BIG nonGMO.org movement (it has a cute butterfly or something on it- its all over Whole Foods), our local coop here in San Diego and also a independent Natural store and a hybrid store- research! I did round #2 leg extensions 1 x 10 @55 2 x 10 @ 70 presses on vertical hoist 3 x 10 w/ 115# leg curls 1 x 10 @70 2 x 10 @ 55 plus Butt blaster 3x12@100# AND the best part...25 more cardio on stair mill. I NEED that!
  3. Thanks Yeti. Twas fun. Headed to Hillcret here in a bit...need to check the product for my 5 PM interview as well. I like to be prepared! I still have the headache...but not as bad. 1 hour cardio, level 16 on stair mill..20 mins x 3: cardio fat burn interval I may go back later and do moderate weights and more cardio tired of being F-ing fat (for me)--its all relative
  4. are you getting any stomach aches? that stuff- or any sugar alcohols for that matter, kill me and most peeps. Gas forming and can cause bloat and horrific stomach aches. How come you don't just do plain stevia?
  5. OK. Have been a trainer for over 20 years. To me, when I needed cash in the past, it was like waiting tables. It has changed drastically over the years, and it IS competitive. Very. Craigslist is OK--but a LOT of trainers there. Have you looked at IDEA's website? http://www.ideafit.com a LOT of great info with archived articles, etc..you can get a 30 day Free trial and access all the info there- and there is a whole section of ideas and ways other trainers have used to get their Independent business's going. I always wanted to( and never did) take a photo and send to all the major local news stations and offer a free on site training class- be creative---THINK big and outside the box--if your physique is good- that right there is a great calling card. I wear tank tops often ( I live in So Cal) and when I am a peak, I will get stopped a LOT and asked if I am taking new clients- still at 50, etc...find your thing, work it and advertise it. Do you have a business plan? Do you have a gym/ equipment? Whats your angle? For years, I did rich moms from my kids pre school in their homes- even now, I could target 35 plus women and make a killing ...find your niche and WORK it. And like heck you couldn't work at Bally's...CHAIN clubs are the easiest to get hired at- and they offer a lot of pro's as well as con's..and/but you have a built in population of potential customers DAILY in front of you ( you still have to sell people and get them to commit) Check out the sites of other people in your area- see what they are charging. Offer a free class/ training session/consult. You don't need a website to train, but people like to "see"...do something on wordpress.com and make a site. Build your platform, find your niche. Again, if you haven't checked out IDEA- do it. They even have a free registry for trainers to post their business and site. Like any other business you want to build- it takes time.
  6. between you , sludge, sunny and meech--Big motivations! Thank you. No competitions for me, ever again ( its just me--I admire and respect those that do)...but cutting alongside you all (part of the Job Search and wanting to be leanest and meanest to get the job of my hearts desire). I know so many people that alternate between Insanity and P90X- have yet to do--please share what you think after. and enjoy the cheesecake. I just threw away my "follow your heart" cream cheese as it was too tempting to have in the fridge. Just curious- what does an average food day look like for you?
  7. 45 cardio stairmill level 16 I finally have a handle on things...3 interviews this week, and two are solid career ventures with a jump...so all good. Was going to do a 2nd workout but i have a splitting headache.
  8. Your food pics are amazing...you need to write a vegan cook book...mouth watering some nights. Thanks.
  9. Something is better than nothing. Late arrival, 9 pm...post vegan baked goodies w/coffee in old suburban San Diego...now, quite colrful and urban w/ yeti. Roman chair sit ups 1x50! 1x35. 10. nothing like a 425 am wake up call to head to the gym by 5! I do know the weary road warrior work out life--you can do it. (do you eat at 11 pm, too...can't tell you how many Amy's rice bowls w/ tofu I have had from a microwave in a hotel room)
  11. i hiked in CO in Aug 2010- boulder. oh my. (and my hiking partner was an "oh My"...a young man 1/2 my age---quite heavenly all around). I thought of bison the over day, someone brought them up--I used to run in Golden Gate park--and they actually have a small Bison/ Buffalo reserve smack dab in the middle of it! Thanks for the thread..I am due a hike up a mountain and my best friend from college wants to do a sans her husband 2 day backpack somewhere this summer either in CA or OR---Enjoy your hike!
  12. too cute! Love the journal! I'm sure most of us here have better butts than we think....we just can't photoshop them in real life! have a day!
  13. 45 Cardio--DONE! damn stuff known as "chicory root"- its INULIN, fiber that does not digest- and causes gas and stomach aches. I got a box of bars from a woman in Canada that is trying to get into US Organic and Natural market- 16 grams of protein for 150 calories. BUT...there is always a catch..that crap is in it. so yumm..I ate three or four and within hours I was bowled over in pain--in bed by 8 pm--UNHEARD of...even being frickin' 50 As age is a number and hotties in their --well, we won't put their age down---kind of kidding-know I don't sleep at 8...anyways, better today--loading my nano and gonna go stair mill. Today is legs- but I have my daughter- so we'll see...its hard on the weekends with her sometimes to get the second workout--and I need cardio more than weights...its mental) I rarely take off time. I have journals going back to college. But today is a GOOD day. Two phone interviews turned into REAL ones next week. One is GOLDEN--Career, money, etc...the other will be "OK..and I will have flow while i keep my eyes open..and its actually a better fit for my life..I could go back to writing and be "happy" and possibly mend w/ my boys" all the stuff I thin about while working out--thats if I get offers. Manager tools has podcasts on nailing the interviews. the guys are amazing!
  14. Ok...I am a throwback...I used to listen to music..but last 6 months or so, I download podcasts of these two guys from manager-tools.com and listen to these two guys. Especially since being laid off. And if not, I like being surprised and I just pick some goofy today's top alternative, or make a station up on Pandora. But did go through a crazy music stage and I still have my playlist somewhere of chili peppers, sublime, cake, nirvana, switchfoot, eminem, lady gaga, the song build me a buttercup, and hanging by a thread by lifehouse, come to mind. I used to have my kids help w/my playlist, but they are assholes this last season or two- and I don't talk to them, ergo no music that only 20 somethings would know.. But manager-tools.com is it mostly these days. And zig Ziglar. Have learned amazing things listening to manager tools -the time in the gym has been mind time as well as body time.
  15. part two: stomach ache, still and again. blew off hyperextensions assisted pull ups 2 x 10 hard 1 x 10 easy bent over row 3 x 10 30# dumbbell seated row at cables 3 x 10 w/ 80# shoulder is bad bent over barbell bicep row 3 x 10 w/ 45# barbell curl w/ 30# 2 x 10 annoyed, stomach hurts- left I'm there, but still not "best effort"...or its just me..
  16. Thanks Forklift on the career stuff! It is solid training...I am at a maintenance mode right now--but my mentality screams for, "faster, better, leaner, stronger:. Yes, I use dumbbells. I had a stress fracture years ago on my front left forearm ad have never been able to do the lie down , with a barbell kind I see the really cool, strong people do at the gym since. have tried. So, now, I have cuyt my weights back even more because of my right anterior deltoid. Sucks getting old, but beats the alternative-...whatever that may be. Quite the impressive physique in the avatar. Today- so far- 45 mins on the stair mill- level 16. Its so engrained.
  17. safe travels. gorgeous place to be this time of year.
  18. ok..its been to years since I was there...need to go again. they must have closed the one on 30th@ University. Thanks for the review. the interviews are at 10 and another at 130...off to do cardio. I worked out at home and on the road for years...it can be done! You rock! have a day!

  20. hope you and yours are ok with all the storms they are showing on the news in MO sweet on the #'s...like an elevator--they are going down. take pics!!!!!
  21. looking for a career job is work..so hunkering down more. thanks for asking. I will be headed to wfm or peoples next week- and checking out expo west.com all next weekend. Natural Foods biggest show- fun for vegan foodies like so many here. sprint work and interval training is the key. I 'm a slow poky 9 minute mile mom (or I was)...but, its strength and velocity- and genetics. doing it on a 1/4 mile track is good- you can run intervals on the clock and do the inside corners. some good running sites- check out SD track clubs page- they have a bunch of formulas on it for all kinds of runs, etc. and good links on lowering times, increasing max vow, etc. i saw a guy yesterday wearing his vibrams (its such an under 30 thing, really), and so I asked him if he ran i themn--he trained for a marathon in. I need my Nikes, w/ my air cushion!
  22. its only been 9 weeks. I taught childbirth ed and was a trainer in the 90's- before it was shee shee trendy- it took 9 months to get big...you are only talking 9 weeks. Our bodies change with each baby and each season. the extra you have is the body fat you need to make breast milk and loose skin,--you just stretched your belly out so far...it goes back...I promise. Watch your diet- PUSH FLUIDS if you are nursing and working out, work out, love your babies, nurse, lalala--and if your jeans aren't where you want till August, it won't be the end of the world. Nurse, love your babies, push fluids, work out, love your babies...etc- its a precious time enjoy it. Its short live and your body will be banging' and you'll be the hottie mom this summer .nine week is nothing. Welcome to the forums.
  23. part two: went back in the eve. consciously eating less and better- motivated by so many others here when I read stories, see pics, and video. some amazing committed peeps at this forum. So eating a LOT more protein like i did when i trained for my competition.. Tjoes has a fake meat that is uber high in protein- not doing any protein powder right now as it tears my stomach to pieces , and I still have a soft spot for the organic smooth peanut butter (not even buying almond right now- dangerous, and do you know what you can do with agave syrup, cocoa powder, peanut butter and rice puffs (organic)?(i had a luna today and yesterday was a box of choco drizzle envirokidz bars- almost like candy- quite yum, but a whole box is 720 kcal- and mostly carbs- so, -when I carb- I carb- so amping on protein and I can see the difference. workout * Incline press, 3 x 15 w/ 5# on ea side ( my right anterior head of my shoulder is jacked up with all sorts of crinkly noises and a modicum of pain attached) and I used big boy bar *supine all the good benches were taken w/ a bar, so I did supine bench w/ #15 dumbbells, but its all my right shoulder could bear *dumbbell fly's 3 x 15 w/ 8- again, my shoulder is screaming! *1- armed scull crushers 3 x 15 w/ 10# *dips on cybex- 3 x 10 w/ 45# ea side *tri ceps pull down 4 x 10 w/ I forgot to look, but Great challenge to self w/ weights- so was the dips can't do my push ups. My shoulder hurts that bad
