The Triceps contest starts today! As you recall, anyone and everyone is welcome to enter and basically this is how it works: -You have a full week to submit photos and then we'll separate the men and women and open up polls for a week of voting. The winners get featured on our main website and get free t-shirts. -The photos must have been taken within the past 4 weeks (basically within 30 days), so only current photos please. -You don't have to show full body, but please allow us to verify that the arms are yours. You can display the back of your upper arms (triceps in anyway) -It doesn't matter if you are cold or pumped up, but the pumped up photos will get th…

Why are you Vegan? 1 2 3

Why are you vegan? I get this question all the time, as I'm sure most of you do. I'm interested to hear lots of different responses. I just worked on a project with two other vegans and I was the only one who became vegan for animal rights reasons. The other two were for health benefits. I'm also interested in what you say when people ask you Why? I usually tell them because of animal rights reasons and most say, "oh, ok". Others will say, why? Sometimes I feel a little awkward talking to certain people about animal rights. I don't want to put down their lifestyle, that is never an effective way to drive a conversation so I always speak as politely as possib…

I normally get lots of nice comments about T-shirts etc, until the other day. I was at the gym the other day wearing one of the Black Vegan fitness Singlets when one of the gym staff turned to one of the Meat Heads and said "I bet you're glad you're wearing a black singlet, like him now" making it very clear, he was having a dig at me being vegan. I didn't say anything I just calmly walked over and started benching, doing a couple of sets at 110kg (which around 30kg higher than anything I had seen them Max), I stared them down and made it pretty clear the Vegan in the Black Singlet had just kicked their A*se..... All in all, it was very satisfying.

Howdy all, I've been recently introduced to the wonders of YouTube & other free online music sources. As I'm sitting here contemplating all of the chores I'm supposed to be doing before I have to head off to work, I thought of an idea for a new thread - sharing links for online songs we really enjoy! To get us started, here's an old song I was recently introduced to (Blame Bronco! ) & which has been really growing on me: I think it's hilarious that several of them seem to be chewing gum while singing!

I know Obama has his own thread, so I wanted to start a general one. I had a party at my house last night and politics was a main topic for an hour or two early into the morning from 12:30-2:30AM. Lots of interesting topics were brought up. My roommate davidtarrfoster spent years heavily into politics so he's quite intelligent (far more than most) on this subject matter. It was very interesting for me to listen and occasionally chime in. Anyway, feel free to discuss U.S. Politics here.

These are just a few random photos of my vegan friend Gabe. He is a two-time World Champion wrestler and nearly got a world record in the deadlift a while back (which I mentioned on the forum). He has also benched over 400 pounds and only weighs about 160 pounds (he's about 5'5") I will FINALLY be getting the interview with him online soon and we'll get better quality photos. These are just a few from a couple of weeks ago. davidtarrfoster and xdarthveganx have met him...oh and loveliberate randomly met him 2 weeks ago too. He's super nice and may, just may, have the best vegan physique out there. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodybuilder/Gabe4.jp…

I have been reading the threads and it looks like there is not any member here that even has a grasp on proper nutrition. No offense intended, or maybe they are just not posting what they know? I am beginning to think that there is little merit to the vegetarian way of life. I invite someone to show me any proof that eating vegetarian has a place in the bodybuilder's regime.

Has everyone heard about this? Cartoons were published which have upset some people who are islamic, and there have been riots etc because countries are not complying in removing the cartoons. I wondered what people think about it, and more specifically, if there are any people who are islamic, if they could explain why there is such a violent reaction, not that they themselves have given a violent reaction, as we know that it is a small percentage of people who have become violent over the situation. I have seen about 9 or so of the cartoons, and wonder why the reaction can't be: A) Laugh at the comics B) Not find the comics funny C) Think the comics are stupid rath…

I guess this is the place to put it, since there is not a political forum here... http://www.prospect-magazine.co.uk/article_details.php?id=7412 I found this really interesting. If Stalin really made such a joke, I guess it really isn't so funny Today, I think many politicians use jokes as a means to diffuse situations for which they are being criticized -- W & Co. for example, loves to do this. If they laugh it off, it tends to make the already apathetic public forget about the issue fairly quickly, or not seem so bad. Anyway, the historical context is quite interesting. Any thoughts or comments?

I have over 600 photos and it's very late at night and I'm tired so I'll just share a few with those who are excited to see how it went. Thanks to Lilikoi for all the photos!!!! I ended up in 2nd place in all 3 categories I was in. Here are just a few random ones and in the near future I'll have a proper recap and more photos. The first few are from my Individual posing routine.....yes, that is me behind the mask http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodybuilder/comp1.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodybuilder/comp2.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodybuilder/comp3.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c210/VeganBodyb…

No offense to those that like Peta. I personally do like them. However, I have noticed that there are even Vegans that are against PETA, or at least do not condone what they do (such as where donations go, how they conduct petitions, etc.). Anyone here have any idea why even Vegans would be against PETA?

http://www.hulu.com/watch/56607/the-real-housewives-of-orange-county-vegan-lunch I always wonder what the other side thinks of vegans.... I guess I was just more open minded and I kinda had a thought that vegans were hippies who ate beans ... kinda kinda really skinny and treehugging. But never thought of them as creapy weird people... Now Vegan I have a whole different perspective that I never got from the outside. What do you think people or have you heard from people think vegans are? Their perspective?

This will be the first time I won`t see my daughter for more than 2 days. Although I look forward starting the trip to Portland and all of you this feeling is very hard to stand.

Controversial perhaps question... When do you consider someone vegan? When they change just their diet, or when they follow it completely and don't wear leather, have or buy any animal products or products tested on animals, won't eat trace amounts or non-vegan ingredients (ie: people that still have a cookie with dairy in it or wear leather shoes, etc..). I know most of the enviro or health vegans I've met don't take it seriously enough as they aren't doing it for animals, so they think only of doing the diet as much as possible for the planets sake, and forget about the true definition of being a vegan. Thoughts?

is the city you live in vegan or vegetarian friendly? like with lots of restaurants with vegan options, or supermarkets with a large vegetarian selection? mine is NOT! there is only one vegetarian restaurant (lacto-ovo) across the border. it's called El Quint Sol (The Fifth Sun) and hey, it's better than nothing. and at the local supermarket the vegetarian section (boca burgers and the like) is about one fridge in the frozen food section. but of course i get by with purchasing a lots of pastas and fruits/vegetables in the produce. i've been to and lived in other cities in texas, like austin or houston, that have much more veggie friendly restaurants and organic sup…

Hey everyone, I know I haven't posted on here in forever; a lot of you probably don't even remember me. I haven't been around because I became seriously disabled with a worsening severe chronic pain syndrome, and have been unable to perform much of any real exercise or gym work. Mainly it's been just stretches. And like watching tennis on TV, coming here just seemed to depress me because it made me think about how much I used to be able to do. Anyway, enough of the lame sob story. I just wanted to come on here and let ya'll know a couple things, reach out to one of my communities for support. First, I've started a new political blog that I'd love everyone to check …
