  1. Oh I forgot to ask.. How long ago was your miscarriage? I should have asked that before I told you to start lifting heavy stuff.
  2. This thread is awesome. When I told my doctor I went vegan, he just went "okay. Make sure you get enough iron" That's it. I'm not a vegan anymore for several reasons, but I still don't eat meat. My current diet is probably the best I've ever had. Ive actually managed to quit taking anti-depressants after nearly 10 years and NOT flip out. The last time I tried to stop taking it was about 2 years ago. I was a raw-food vegan then, and probably not getting the nutrients I needed. I went batsh!t crazy. I took Effexor when I was a teenager actually.. That drug was terrible. It actually made my anxiety worse, and I had tremors and stuff. I only took it for a few months before I stopped taking it. The drug I experienced the least amount of side effects with was Prozac. I took that for 9 years.
  3. I would recommend a multivitamin that contains at least 10mcg of B12. There are lots of vegan vitamins to choose from, but they can be a bit pricy. Just keep an eye out for things like gelatin and vitamin D3. There's even liquid vitamins if you don't wanna swallow a big horse pill. I go shopping at the local health store for supplements.
  4. How is this helpful to her? Anyways, Chilove some of my favorite exercises for upper back: -Barbell Rows (with the bar pulled to upper chest rather than stomach area) -Reverse Flies (with dumbbells) -Dumbbell Shrugs Have you ever gone ATVing?? Your upper back and shoulders will hurt the most. I guarantee you. Why are vegans so bloody touchy? Besides, she said BODYWEIGHT exercises. She doesn't have access to barbell rows. Edit to add: Although ATVing isn't technically bodyweight exercise, you use your muscles a lot to just stay on the machine and maintain stability. If you don't have an ATV, there's always mountain biking or swimming which will require you to use all your muscles for an even better workout.
  5. My philisophy is: Don't get backed up with shit to begin with and you won't have to clean it out. Buuut, for those who HAVE eaten poorly for years, changing their diet ought to be enough. I know when most people drastically change from eating a junk-filled diet to a clean whole-foods diet, they often feel weird for a few weeks and get diarrhea and stuff. There's your cleansing.
  6. That's what bugs me about all these hippies that spout off about how you "need" to "cleanse" your body. We were equipped with organs that do that for us. Liver, kidneys, bowel etc. Now, if you're eating crap all the time, you are probably not getting enough fiber. So, you're probably full of shit. All you do is: Stop eating crap and eat more fiber. Then your body uses this awesome thing called the POOPING MECHANISM to clean you out. Okay, actually it's called "peristalsis" but pooping mechanisms written in caps is more fun.
  7. He sounds like a dick. How do the other employers at the gym react to him? It's funny because most of the time, the guys who think they know it all, actually doon't know wtf they're talking about. Like those annoying people who spam colon hydrotherapy thnk they're gasteroenterologists.
  8. That was an awesome game. I'm thinking Chicago will win it.
  9. Abs, shoulders, hip flexors, heart.
  10. Yeah. He just sounds like a regular run-of-the-mill asshole. Which reminds me of a Jimmy Buffet song that goes "Were ya born an asshole? Or didja work at it yer whole life? Either way it worked out fine. CUZ YER AND AAAAASSHOLE TONIGHT!" Good times.
  11. Ouch. When I read the title, I thought you tore your ACL while doing P90X. I was gonna be like "SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEE" I hope you feel better soon, buddy. Welcome to the board!
  12. When I'm training heavy this happens ALL the time. So, to avoid it, I eat a huge bowl of oatmeal before bed.
  13. I KNOW WTF Anyways, all fad diets are just temporary solutions anyways. People call my diet "Stupid", or "inconvenient" but look at me! I'm fit! I look awesome! If I get hit by a bus everyone's gonna be after my superduper healthy organs.
  14. Earlier in this thread we mentioned that food doesn't have that much of an impact (in any at all) on your hormones. So, if you're purchasing herbs and supplements to try and fix a medical issue, you're just wasting your money. This is something that should be discussed with your doctor. If you have a hormone imbalance causing your cysts, or something more serious, your doctor will be able to provide you with effective treatment. If you wait too long before you take action, you CAN become infertile. Ovaries can become twisted or damaged from cysts. Depending on the size and what kind of cyst you have, you may need to have them removed. The ovaries are really complicated organs. I've spent hours researching this subject and I have barely skimmed the surface.
  15. If you want to gain muscle, fat loss will have to wait until a bit later.. Depending on how lean you want to be. However, the beauty of gaining muscle is that you burn calories effectively, and you will continue burning them even after your workout. Focus on heavy to moderate lifting, doing no more than 10 reps per exercise. Focus on compound movements such as squats, bench presses, rows, deadlifts etc. I like the K.I.S.S routine (google it) A couple days a week when you aren't lifting, do your cardio. Eat well. Repeat.
  16. Functional cysts will disappear on their own. They are the most common type of cyst -- the kind that keep growing during ovulation. Corpus Luteum cysts are another common functional cyst. They are, for the most part, harmless. The cysts that usually require some sort of intervention are dermoid cysts (which are composed of other body tissues, such as fat, cartilage, bone or hair), cancerous ones (obviously), and endometriomas. Chances are, my cysts are functional.. Since that's the most common kind. They look like bubbles on an ultrasound, and doctors usually "wait and see" if they get bigger, or don't go away before they decide to remove them surgically. Dermoid cysts can be seen on an x-ray and are pretty obvious since they contain other body tissue (they need to be surgically removed), and endometriosis is a condition only diagnosed by laproscopic surgery.
  17. I found some vegan skater shoes at West 49. They are bawm!
  18. What are your goals? Weight loss? Muscle gain? Endurance? Strength? Stamina? You should eat and exercise accordingly. Also, therapy might not be a bad idea.
  19. Oh and LOL@ you entering a thread with a raging hormonal woman and expecting her NOT to go @pe$hit on you
  20. LOL@ your totally insignificant post.
  21. Yeah I didn't feel like you didn't think I was bright either, Gaia. Just offering some insight I wasn't offended or anything.
